"Practical" in that an automatic rifle would be better.
This is a war, and the bump stock thing is a battle. Sometimes, resisting everything is futile, and it's better to focus a finite amount of resources, on things that matter, and change the course of the war. That is my point. Even in WWII, we conceded Wake Island, the Philippines, and control of the greater Pacific, until we could marshal enough forces to run their fucking asses over.
Let's not fall on our swords over something that isn't practical (and is purely principle) and jeopardize winning the war. In the game of hearts and minds, bump stocks is not a winning argument. And it's those hearts and minds (how ever misinformed and well intentioned) that vote politicians in that support this kind of crap. Is it frustrating? Hell yes. But patience and persistence is what will win the day, not ultimatums and unbridled anger. Better to tuck the anger away, and use it when the more opportune moment arises...which may very well be as AJ portends; open, violent rebellion.
