Ok gents seems as if there is plenty of interest in matches.

I think we need to start getting a head count of who wants to participate and we get organized to put something together.

Land seems to be the stumbling block but with enough folks pooling rescources we can figure something out is my prediction.

Found an almost 1k yd range in Lake Elsinor on private property.

Anyone shot there yet?

Completely forgot about this post.
The range "Using that term loosely" I think you're talking about is rancho deliverance

Its a absolute shit show.
I use to shoot at steele peak out to about 1,300 yards during the week before BLM shut it down.
Pala is a fun place to go to, but their scheduling is rocky.
Currently go out north on the 15 a shoot out to a spot, 1200 yards & a mile possibilities.

Also, Im in riverside

Anyone wanna try and get a trip going?
we have a spot that we setup out to 1200 yards, and a mile

dont need 4x4 but something with decent clearance is needed. A stock CRV can make it fine

I'm in Riverside. Newly returned to shooting sports as I approach retirement. I'm putting together a new rifle and I am looking for a good place to shoot. Checking out 29 Palms Pistol and Rifle Club and Pala. I'd like to find a group to shoot with. Anyone??

Im in riverside. PALA is fairly close, and we have a spot off the 15n we shoot out two or three times a month

Have not checked in on this thread for a few weeks. Whatever it is Im in to meet up and shoot.

Just got rifle set up after waiting on shipping and 10 days in Jerry Brown jail.

ive currently got two rifles waiting to please the crown for release.

Going out out this weekend (Saturday) to shoot mostly SPR's at around 6-700yards

Next weekend for sure 50/50 for this one. I have all my gear and ammo now but really need to hit a 100yd range to zero and chrono before trying to go to distance.

Will I need a 4x4 to get to either spot or will passenger car be ok? First time in my life I dont have a truck, jeep or suv.

Victorvil or Barstow either is fine with me takes about same time from Corona.

Got my dates mixed up. Im good to go for this Saturday!

What is the target situation at these places? Its early in the week so if I need to make stands and order plates I can get it by the weekend. Will need to set up something to zero on anyways if I dont get to do it thiss week.

AO6

Target situation is you bring what you want to shoot. I have some steel I usually take. Victorville is good enough for me. I head up to Burro Canyon when I go. I am free this Saturday, luckily my wife and kids are out of town for Spring Break. I can bring some paper targets and a stand for a 100 yard zero and a Labradar.

How long would you guys like to shoot for?

Lol thats a silly question. Have new rifle, glass and other assorted toys and have not shot in the 3 yrs I have lived here. So Im only limited to the fact I have only 200 rnds of 6.5 loaded up.

Wife and kids are going to a kids birthday so my sched is open.

Road condition through the canyon?

I will try to get zeroed and some drop data before Sat.

Will also try to get a plate or two.

PM for contact info.

You'll likely need something with some ground clearance honestly, my CRV makes it just fine but a friend showed up with a car and we had to just drive around and shoot at a different location because of clearance issues.

there is a hill backstop for a 100 yard zero.

do you guys have a Instagram by chance as there is already a group message pertaining to this. Also, I've got to see if I can extend the invite (shouldn't be a issue), since the closure of Steele peak and rancho deliverance spots are a dime a dozen and I was initially invited to a friends spot that he discovered.

No instagram sorry. Have an AWD crossover, has more clearance than the car.

So is the plan Barstow or Victorvill?

agh, you SHOULD be good at my spot. Ill try to see if my friends are going out this weekend and what their intentions are ( Distance, Purpose, time out)
My Saturday is tentative right now because if it doesn't rail ill be free diving

Ill update the info as I get it from friends. Right now its looking like a potential trip this coming friday.

Ive started spear fishing again so my schedule changes but the group we go with is solid

Have you guys been able to get together to shoot yet? I am interested in joining. I have a buddy that has 3 fantastic rifles he has not shot yet (that I know of), that I would like to shoot also. I am interested and I have (2) places we can shoot. (1) is local and I own property in 29 Palms we can use also (if anyone is up to for that drive). I have an automatic clay pigeon thrower that I am willing to bring for anyone that like to shoot shot guns. Just bring your own clays.

TWOMANATTACK, sent you a PM. Fudd has my info.

Looks like this could actually happen lol. Its tough with schedules to get things going. The Washington group started same way but eventually we got enough momentum it became a regular thing.

San Diego here, I shoot at Pala every Friday that I am in town and try to hit their Tactical Bolt Rifle competition as much as I can. It's quite a drive, but I am working on getting a spot out in the desert near El Centro and the bombing range.

I was going to try Pala this weekend and the whole rec shooting thing is just weird. I was going to but a membership but it didn't seem to worth it. Still have to pay each visit just at a reduced rate and it didn't seem like you had any special access outside of the rec times. If I'm wrong let me know.

I do plant to try shooting the club matches at several of these member only ranges.

You're correct, it's a membership that really only gets you a reduced daily rate. It goes from $30 down to $15. I think the yearly is $75. Rec shooting is always annoying, but I don't know another public range with that much steel from 100-700 yds.

You should definitely come out to the Tactical bolt rifle matches, they're pretty low key but good practice.

I'll be out in BLM tomorrow shooting to prob around 1100-1200 yards

pala is cool but their calendar dates are crazy for "free shoot" days

and it's usually packed with dudes wasting 338lm on 500y steel

Went out on Friday. Not too hot honestly (didn't have touse the ez-up)

no value wind, not a soul out there except for us.

Setup 6" targets at 300 yards, and two ispc steel plates at 1,200

The cerrocoat on bolt was way to thick. Made it bind up and gummy as hell. I lapped it and that helpped but looked like shit. Not 100% if Im gonna keep it and it will be easier to sell if it actually looks like it has 280 rounds down it vs looking like it has 3k due to wear on finish. I lapped it till it was bare.

Went out Friday mornings with a group of friends to blm again.
Zeroed/confirmed
setup steel at 600, 1260, 1760 yards.

Not a single soul around.
Wind no value.
100 outside but much cooler under EZ-Ups
