Mexican Nazis! Now I've seen everything! 
When I was a kid I was with my uncle one day, this is likely around 1970 or so. He went to a cobbler (to save the children from looking this up it is a guy that fixes shoes) and he had the same deal. Even at that young age I knew what it was. Real nice guy.

Also contributed to Gen. Colin Powell. I think if you check you will find the claim in the message is untrue. General Cosgrove has never made any such remark in any interview. The message is a recycled version of earlier US and UK based versions that have circulated for a number of years.

Goosebumps here. My mother was a teen in the Netherlands during the German occupation. They sheltered an American pilot, whose plane was shot down, for a short time. They hid a radio in the attic. They had to smuggle wood cut from the local park to stay warm under penalty of death. She saw people shot against the church wall on Sundays and townspeople were forced to watch. She’s 90 now and rarely talks about it, but when she does, she cries.
My father's wife is from Denmark and her Grandfather told her many similar stories about living under brutal NAZI rule. Apparently her grandfather was in the resistance and slept with a machine gun in bed with him because he knew if the NAZI's came knocking on his door, he wasn't getting out alive and it was time to take as many as he could with him.

For brevity's sake, I just referred to it as Russia. When people talked about the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, I don't think too many people were all that formal and called it that, just Russia. Same way with Korea. Who takes the time to call it the Democratic People's Republic of Korea?
