Spent the best 6 days of hunting I've ever had in my life. Took both son and daughter whitetail hunting in VA and PA. Had an absolutely great time.

My 14 yr old son, Mini Sam, took his 4th and largest whitetail buck to date at 7am this morning in PA. Is missing his G2 on the left or would've been something special, no one is complaining though! Note the well placed ASC hat!

My 12 year old daughter took her 1st shot ever at a whitetail Saturday night at our VA property, was a clean miss on a buck at ~160 yards, after which she broke down crying! I think the total experience was a bit overwhelming for her. We talked it through and she's wired and ready for redemption! This is the post-cry pic after she pulled it together.
Count me as a very proud father.

Re: Son and daughter whitetail hunting

trust me on this...your time with them is well spent. It's also alot easier to talk them down out of a clean miss than it is on an unfound bad hit. Saw a kid last year trailing a buck that was dragging 20 yards of intestines thru the woods at a full clip. he was DEVASTATED and they never found that deer. I may have found that one this summer scouting but i'm not certain it's the same deer...nice rack on it though. Still, it's alot easier on the conscience with a full clean miss than 2 days of trailing blood and coming up empty. Good luck on her next outing!

Sam, Any time in the field is time rewarded. Sure beats sitting in front of a TV.That is great that your kids show a intrest in what you believe in.I am sure they will remember that day for the rest of their lives.

Jon,
Jim's "unique" method of instruction would have her crying again in minutes, so no, that won't happen, am sure you know what I mean!! She'll be ready for her next chance. All the best to you and your family.
