Son of a bitch, 5 officers just got shot less than 10 miles from me

Now that the market is pretty saturated with cheap, compact 9mm pistols, I would also recommend getting a couple as "all purpose" defense guns. In the event I have to use them in a SD situation, I'd put those on the front line anytime instead of my valuable, heirloom grade handguns.

Also don't discount a good hammerless compact revolver like the Ruger LCR if you come across one. Put that in a simple pocket slip holster and it can stay put so long you forget you have one & be trouble free for years.

https://www.click2houston.com/news/who-were-the-suspects-in-shootout-that-injured-5-houston-officers

Let me pull out and sequence some of the facts reported in this article:

- the suspects [deceased] as 59-year-old Dennis Tuttle and 58-year-old Rhogena Nicholas
- the home was owned by Tuttle
- State and national searches returned no criminal history for the couple
- Court records showed that Tuttle had no criminal history in Harris County
- when the officers entered the home, they were met by an aggressive dog, which was shot by one officer
- Tuttle walked out of a back room in the home and used a .357 revolver to start shooting at the officers, wounding one of them
- the wounded officer fell on a living room couch, Nicholas tried to grab his weapon
- officers returned fire, killing both Tuttle and Nicholas

I’ll bet anyone $100 that a gag order is placed on any further investigations or court proceedings. It’s it nice that people can be put to death in their own homes for nothing more than a report of the smell of weed, a barking dog, and an old 357 revolver. What would you have done if you were woke abruptly in the middle of the night to someone breaking into your house and shooting your dog?

Please pray for the agents of the state then sing some Lee Greenwood.

You left out they shot the dog. A couple of drug dealers and a pit bull are dead. And an old .357 Magnum is just as deadly as a new one. Police aren't trained to look at the gun and determine it is old and thus treated differently. It doesn't matter if the couple thought they were being home invaded by goods or cops. Their lifestyle led to this cluster fuck and they picked the wrong neighborhood to move into.

Dafuq did I just read?!?

You’re saying that if someone stormed into your house in the middle of the night for whatever weaksauce reason and shot your dog, and you headed out of your bedroom, armed, to defend yourself, as many of us are trained to do, that a death sentence is warranted and celebrated?

I miss America.

Don't miss her just yet, as could be their kin or very close friends will still issue justice,... Assuming,... it's warranted.

This phenomenon is not new either. One of the best examples of this is the Lincoln County War (1878-1881). Shit pretty much hit the fan when Sheriff William Brady turned his back on the people whose interests he was supposed to look out for and signed that pact with Jimmy Dolan to be his dry goods monopoly's money strongman.

John Tunstall knew what was coming. He told Alexander McSween that he knew he was not going to make it when he rode out for that supposed "meeting" in the hills just outside his ranch. And he was reportedly unarmed when he was shot 10+ times. When the governor of New Mexico heard the case later briefly, Billy "The Kid" testified that Mr. Tunstall's final words were "I don't have a gun. Don't shoot! Please don't shoot!" Right before Brady's posse cut him down with a volley.

Let's review.
Raid instituted on tip about heroin.
No knock on 58-59 year old's home.
I'd wager they knew he had a gun/guns.
They should've also known whether they had any previous records.
Shoot out insues cops takes some hit/hits? Dog gets some as well.
Dennis and Rhogena are smoked in the fray.
Cops take one in the neck and not sure on the others and a leg injury.
question:
If they had sufficient evidence to do a raid why not just get a warrant/search and test the tip with less potential for violence?

Also if we are this worried about Heroin why are we letting it "walk" across our border?

No knocks are about look what we can do to you anytime we want, nothing more. Where/when you don't have the ability to think out of the box, or out smart your quarry, just brake shit in the name of the law, while trying to be dressed an acting like Rambo. There is no one or no place that can not be controlled w/o no knocks. Who allowed the issue to get to a no knock in the first place? think long an hard before you answer that. Everything involved in no knocks has a root issue or agenda. Reaction is when action was/is not applied properly, long before the reaction took place.

I support law enforcement and LEOs pretty much catagorically and not merely on an internet chat room either. That said, I neither disengage my brain while suppprting them, not do I think they’re anything but normal people. If they screw up and it’s ignored it will happen more frequently. That is actually the goal of a lot of people. Don’t help them because you give blind support. My support is eyes wide open, and when reporting doesn’t track to question...just like in Ferguson, and just like in this case.

When it becomes a shit show like this we usually don’t actually know what happened because the media is rotten to the core and can’t be trusted.

Hi,

So one of the officers has been shot on 3 different occasions including this one.....
How many LEOs go their entire career without ever shooting at someone, much less being shot on 3 different occasions???

That MFer is either walking version of bad luck or walking version of "Karma".

Sincerely,
Theis

I have dug into matters such as these in my local city. My curiosity was perked by a gun rights attorney working for 2A related organization. When an instance happens like this, there is generally a pretty methodical pattern of action.

- MSM reports the sensationalized headlines. In this case, many people were under the impression this was a full on gunfight at a MS-13 heroin distribution center.
- Somtime later, politicians report the bravery and ask for prayers.
- Burried sparse details are released by the press, none of it is reported by the MSM.
- Gag orders are put in place to ensure none of the facts of the court trial see the light of day.
- If there is any justice and/or restitution, everything is eltimately funded by the tax payer.

All of this comes down to gubbamint entity errors, and they will do everything to divert attention from that fact. When do we demand better from those who’s salaries we pay?

I'm thinking somebody never sleeps in his bed because the bedroom is used for storage and is filled from floor to ceiling with junk including a couple of boxes filled with old pornographic magazines the kind you used to see displayed at the local convenience store. :)

And, that person deserves the same life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness that you, I, or anyone else are afforded. Wait, it smells like a Phish concert and I hear a dog barking... call the exterminators. ?

Some exterminators cause issues by not checking & vetting information, or getting a first hand truthful account. Words from any snitch is suspect until proved correct, an just because they are correct a few times, truth full people that does not make. Question is why are they snitching in the first place, what is their motive?

One thing that doesn't make sense to me is Art Acevado saying that "the department had purchased heroin at the residence in the past."

What exactly does that mean, and is it even true?

You guys sure do talk. Let a spook tell ya I read the affidavit and the resulting warrant. The only stupid thing they did was omit the name of Mr. Tuttle. They only describe him as a man about 55 years of age and name unknown. Public information from DMV and Property tax would have revealed a name and subsequent criminal background check so they would at least have an idea of who they are dealing with. I would bet they did all that and omitted that data from the judge. The judge should have asked a few questions along these lines before signing the warrant. The judge should have said no name and you have to knock on the door. Give me a name and background check and then we can discuss ambush.

Wow, the blue ball lickers on that forum are brain dead, I have a higher opinion of our badge bunnies now. I would like to hear what your thoughts are. Hard to follow that other forum.

It really took a good sturdy pair of rubber boots to wade through the mud that followed the OP on that page, but I would not so readily dismiss the Facebook entry like many of the knee-jerk folks are doing there. If something is being covered up right now, family members of the deceased, in anguish, may find a social media page as their only possible route to get their version of the story to any ears that might be listening out there.

Some rays of light and voices of reason started to appear on Page 2. The first one was a shitstorm. But THAT is usually how 70% of the people there treats new information from sources other than the state media, despite the fact that these are the SAME folks who cry fake news. If indeed there is a cover-up going on, those in charge will definitely know now that the Internet and the masses are already highly skeptical of anything they are saying. And increased pressure causes people to slip up and make mistakes. The next few days / weeks are going to be interesting.
