So I'm trying to get an optic for the past two months, one that's been pure unobtanium, and someone here puts me onto a wholesale source. I drop in to closest yon fun store, the one that likes to always insist on acquiring at the absolute crap blue book price, no matter what you bring in.
"From who? Yeah, we can do that, we got an account with them."
I call earlier today, and they tell me that they missed out, so they promise to reach out and find one, me knowing about what the difference is between MSRP and usual retail. Of course, they didn't bother to discuss what they were expecting on their end.
It turns out that they wanted $86 over $204 cost (they told me what theirs was, believe it or not) on an item that typically retails for $250 elsewhere, plus state sales tax. Holy mark-up, Batman! I'd like to be helpful and all, but not at the price of a stone butt whippin', so I told them no, and scored it for $235 shipped with the help of a not-so-small (thank you, SH!) discount.
Where's the break between being reasonable and being predatory?
