How much could a target be angled to the side before it would affect group size. I’m thinking if the target is angled 10-20 degrees to the side and then measured without accounting for it then your groups would open your groups up.

Nah, thinner target means thinner groups for best groups you have to wet the target and mold it around a basketball so it is thinner for windage AND elevation....

it all looks 2D to me When in Doubt the answer is more dry fire.

Any little bit would make the holes slightly elongated instead of perfectly round and make your groups measure larger that they actually are.

OP I picked on you at first but my real answer is that a 10 degree angle between a target and shooter would not make any measurable difference in printed group size. The target would have to be extremely bladed to the shooter to have any significant impact on measurable group size.

Wait, so you’re blaming the TARGET ANGLE for your groups?

This isn’t a stupid question. It’s a simple answer though.

It’s you. If you’re blaming the fucking target angle for your group size, it’s you.

Don't pay any attention to these yahoos.

Of course the angle is going to affect the group sizes.

This is nothing new and has been scientifically proven using the BBC formula.
BBC stands for Binary Ballistic Coefficient and the formula correlates the group size center to center deviations with the angle of impact so that the differences between where the bullet first impacts the target (the tip) and where it finishes penetration (the shank) are taken into account.

I'm on my phone right now, and have limited service, but if you Google these shooting related terms I think you'll find all the information you need.
It's often explained in graphic form, so doing an image search can get you there quickly.

Since shooting is something that Google and others consider to be dangerous you'll want to make sure safe search is turned off.

Hi. You must be new here.

Too much talk of BBC scares the weak and timid. I'm not scared of anything but there are things I have managed to avoid. BBC I'm told can leave a lasting effect on its target, I avoid these. BBP is another story.

That’s some solid, hard advice right there.

You’re making silly-assed (see @Tucker301 its hyphenated) inferences about why your groups are not what you want them to be. Seriously? 10-20 degree target angle has nothing to do with you still being unable to put them all in a tiny group. But if you want to believe that to make yourself feel better, go right ahead.

Hi,

Doug, do not listen to these guys....would you correct your daughter if her pitches were 20 degrees off?
If you would correct that then you can rest assured that the same degree angle offset of your target would affect your target groups.
Just sayin......

Sincerely,
Theis

So you’ve never heard of binary ballistic coefficient?

Dude it’s a real thing that doesn’t get enough attention because it goes much deeper into subject mater than most weekend hobbyists can benefit from, not to mention experience themselves.

If you don’t believe me you can always hit up lowlight and ask him about it.

Here’s the thing dude,

There are a lot of guys on here that can dip a lot deeper into it than you. Guys that have become very proficient hitting paper and steel, guys that have shot more than paper and steel, and guys that have taught others to succeed shooting more than paper and steel. You shouldn’t be so quick to be triggered when they give you the “thick skin” check. Think you are the first one to get ribbed here?

Perhaps your one man menstral show would fit in better at PMSshooter.com

Fuck......and I’m taking a ration of shit for fucking hyphens........??
