Hunting & Fishing Steelhead??

Greetings folks,

I was just invited to go fish for steelhead up in Pulaski NY. I do a fair bit of surf casting, Lake and river fishing all with spinning rigs. Never gone for steelys. Guys I am going with Fly and center pin fish. I do neither. Any pointers on needed gear would be appreciated. Beyond grabbing my trout bag I am lost. I will have a chance to use some of their extra rigs but, I figure I will be most comfortable with my spinning reel. Thanks in advance.

Thanks seaaggie, I am not going to stress over it. I know there are some good local shops up that way. Worse case I support some local guys, which isn't a bad thing if I need to get anything. The casual.. So... whats hot this year , usually gets you a nice cart full of items.

A guide that worked for us in Alaska now lives in NY and does a lot of of Stealhead fishing there. He has incredible talent for catching fish. Send me a pm and I will get you in touch with him
