So over the past week as I start gathering things to build a 223 upper with a 12.5" barrel I have been looking and going insane looking at optics for it.
After contemplating another NX8, then wanting cheaper looking at the NXS, then a Vortex Razor, Vortex Strike Eagle, Sig Tango 4 and 6, Sig Bravo 4, Primary Arms options, and other options I have forgot...I finally find the Steiner P4Xi 1-4x24.
Is this the best budget high end glass out there? I like the BDC reticle, the size of the dot, and the capped turrets.

How bright is the dot? Day light bright, or will it struggle in the summer noon sunlight? My only complaint looking at specs is battery life.
What is a good mount, I want a Geissele but not going to pay $325. Kind of like the NF mounts, they look good for a much more manageable price. And for the million dollar question who has the scope the cheapest? Found it for $580 with the throw lever.

I've had good luck with the one on my 16" AR in 5.56. Dot is daylight bright. The reticle is on the thick side if that matters to you. Wait for deals on them from DSG arms or Euro Optic. I only have about 800 rounds on mine through schools. Can't beat the warranty if you ever need it too.

I can wait on the purchase. See what happens during the holidays for pricing.

Now I know with a 12.5" barrel the stadia lines aren't going to be what they are intended for. But they should be somewhat close. It's a 200 yard zero if I'm not mistaken, then each line is theoretically every 50 yards, or 100 yards?

It's a BDC reticle. You just need to take it to the range and shoot it to find where the holdovers line up with the yardage. I end up writing everything on the gun with a paint pen. If you ever switch ammo/optics Powder Blast will take it right off. I end up changing everything around so much, I have a hard time remembering everything!
