What does the Hide think of the Steiner line of scopes now? T5xi, M7xi It seemed in the past that they had some tracking issues. Have the tracking issues been resolved? Are they a valid option in their price range? Is there something more solid in their price range? And finally How does their glass stack up? Thanks

The issues with the T5Xi were worked out a while ago. The Military line is a completely different line and quite a step up from the T5. I've had two Razor Gen 2s, the 5-25 T5Xi, USO 5-25 as well as some other scopes. My old Steiner Military 4-16 is the only one that I have kept from the day I bought it, Glass is phenomenal. Other than the thing is three feet long its wonderful.

The issues with the Tracking and Turrets was corrected a while ago. Now's a great time to get into a Steiner. We posted Steiner Demo Riflescopes Sale the other day and we just found out that they have some T5Xi Tactical 5-25x56 - SCR demos that we jumped on that are only $1,399.99. Those should be here in a few days
Pretty much going to mirror the other posts. I currently have the older 16X and have owned 2 5-25 M5xi in the past. The 16X and other m series are bomb proof and with the exceptionally rare one track perfect. Great designs and are easy to get behind. The 16X is noticeably better in the glass department but that's it, everything else is equal. There's no way I'll give up my 16X unless the new 4-28 is the equal or bests it in all areas. Great company to deal with if anything does happen to your scope, you'll be taken care of Vortex level.
What quality is the glass? What would it compare too. How would the scope compare to a Gen 2 Razor.
I found that the T5Xi 5-25 was not nearly as clear as my Razors or my Steiner 4-16, that's the main reason I got rid of it.
The new M7 should be as good if not better than the Razors. The M5xi is known to be extremely clear and robust and the M7 is its replacement

The 4-16 side by side was the equal to the Schmidt 16X. The 5X erector m series at least a step back.
I've got a 4-16 military, a P4xi 4-16 and a Tx5i 3-15x. I've also had a 3-15 M5xi. They are all great scopes and I have not had any issues or complaints with any of them.
I’ve got a couple of the M5s and they are a great scope. One is noticeably better glass but both are great. I’ve got a T5 and it’s solid for the money. I guess I must be fairly happy as I’ve got one of the M7s on order. The M7 might be a step down on turrets as I love the M5 turrets
I like my older militarys model. Had a T5 and sold it but would buy another for the right price. Nothing wrong with them provided you find a good deal.
I'm gonna echo what people have said, the consumer grade tactical / practical TX / PX series are really great scopes, but not comparable to like, Khales / S&B / ATACR's / Mark 5's or anything, but the MX military series is around that quality level. Glass is just so good it's hard to tell if Khales or S&B have better glass between the 3.
Turrets are great on it, I've only had first impressions with it, so I couldn't test the tracking on the m series 5-25, but I do own the TX 5-25 and the tracking is phenomenal. The military line is a strict upgrade so I can't imagine the turrets would get worse in that process.
They definitely do some nightforce-esque voodoo with coatings I believe in the m series to just make everything weirdly crisp and clear even at max magnification. Really great optics, but they're also priced pretty similar to the know high end brands, so it's tough to really pick.

I have an older T series I bought here. Sent it in for the updated turrets, tracking has been tested and so far so good. Glass quality is highly subjective, the only optics I've compared mine to is atacr’s and kahles 6-24’s. My opinion, it hangs with Kahles 6-24’s and keeps up with the atacr’s. Take that for what’s its worth, that was pretty much only bright sunshine days, which I don’t think is a true comparison. My thoughts, the T series isn’t worth the new price tag, but a hellavua bargin at used prices.
I've been happy with my T5Xi 3-15. Tracks great, glass is an upgrade from my Viper PST. Pretty good value for a sub $1500 scope.
It's a stepping stone for me until I'm ready to invest in a tier 1 optic.
Customer service is top notch as well, and all the T series are made and serviced stateside.

I really hope the M7X is great. I bought one sight unseen with minimal/no reviews. I generally do a lot of pre-order buys, as my firearms interests are broad and budget is somewhat limited...
I have T5's in 3-15 and 5-25. Had them both since the very beginning. Honestly, I like them a lot. I have a Schmidt and an ATACR also, and I guess the glass isn't as good as the top tier stuff, but it's darn good enough for my purposes. The 5-25 lives on my primary .22 trainer, a 40X. I shoot that rifle a lot. Probably more than any other rifle I own. I never feel like I'm wanting for anything when I shoot it. The 3-15 lives on my back-up competition AR, and in that role it gets little use. I did shoot it the other day, and I recall being impressed with the scope again.
I have the budget to buy more expensive glass than the Steiners, and sometimes I do. I do it because I can and I'm a scope junkie. If a Steiner was at the top of my price range, I'd give it serious consideration. In fact, I was just toying with upgrading an XTR II that lives on an AR, and another T5 is on my short list of glass I'm considering.

I will say that given the current prices on Razor Gen 2, you'd be hard-pressed to convince me that it isn't worth a couple hundred bucks over a Steiner T5xi. The price difference is a little more than that on the 5-25/4.5-27, but the performance difference is bigger on the high-mag side as well.
I bought a T5Xi blemish from Europtic a couple of years ago and was very disappointed with it. The glass was awful. Tons of CA. Made it real hard to get a good focus out past 150 yards. I will say I think it was a very early model. Some say the newer ones are better. I was really pissed because even though I paid $1500 for it, in no way was that scope worth that kind of money, I would of cried if I paid full price for one.
Meanwhile other people spend over $100 on literal weights to add to their chassis. Agree they are heavy but it's a plus for some.
I've seen a quite a few M5Xs for sale in the PX for under $1800 in the past few months. When the M7X drops next month, I'd expect more used M5Xs to pop up
I had good deal on a T5XI 5X25 like a year ago for $1400 from b&h photo, came with a $300 gift card. Switched between different rifles and never had any issues. Although I don't have much experience with high end scopes for that kind of money, I think it is a great scope.
