Okay
@Long Range 338 finally brought the goods down with him and hand delivered my 318.
Cons:
Parallax is not super smooth. It doesn't feel like there is beach sand in there gritty, but its rough.
Turret is a classic non translating two set screw to slip zero style and it seems like the screws need to be backed out almost all the way until they lose their purchase on the inner turret.
Aligning the turret hasmarks to the zero witness mark is tedious.
I am the exact opposite of
@Glassaholic ....I am an ocd turret snob. If the clicks are not firm/tacticle and audible with zero play Im out chief.... Life is too short for bush league turrets trying to figure out did I dial .6 or .5....is this thing lined up ? These turrets squeek past acceptable.
Weird battery size not a 2032.
Pros:
Cheap
Glass is honestly very good for the price. Through the full mag range I felt like the image was sharp.
Resolution and color look great. Had my zco with me up at the range today and obviously the zco has a better image but I'm really impressed how good the Steiner looks.
I had a difficult time discerning any CA but there is some there if you really hunt for it.
Turret clicks are audible and solid... Once you get the turret set, the wintness marks line up perfectly so there is no doubt what tenth you are on. However there is just a slight bit of play once you are in the detent. Again... Barely acceptable to me but I like nice things.
Diopter locks solid.
Green illumination not daylight bright on 18 but I can see it on 3x. I like that the illumination has off points between each level.
Tennebrax caps and a throw lever included.
Mag ring is almost perfect tension imo but the throw lever is nice.
Eyebox is pretty good.
Turrets lock solid and has a zero stop.
Made in the mutha freaking USA in Colorado.
Overall I think these will straight kill at the 2k or sub 2k price point. You really need to shell out alot more money for similar glass quality imo.
Will update as I continue to run this against my SB ultra shorts and zco.
