Rifle Scopes Steiner TX5i no clicks.

Did you follow these instructions to the letter?

Setting the Zero Stop
1. Zero your scope at the desired distance.
2. Using the 2mm hex wrench supplied with your scope loosen the two set screws located just below the top
of the knob one-half turn only.
3. Turn the knob to zero.
4. Tighten the two set screws on the knob. 5. Repeat steps 2-4 for the windage knob.
If the Desired Zero is Below the Zero Stop Location
1. Use the hex wrench supplied with the scope to loosen the set screws on the elevation adjustment knob located just under the top of the knob.
2. Turn the knob in the direction of UP as indicated on your elevation knob slightly more than the number of mils needed to achieve zero. The knob should free spin without any click engagement.
3. Retighten the set screws. Adjust the elevation down the required amount.
4. Once you have zeroed and the elevation adjustment is complete, once again loosen the two set screws and reset the knob to “0”.
TURRET CAP REPLACEMENT
The windage and elevation turret caps on the T5Xi 3x-15x and 5x-25x scope can be replaced without the need to re-zero in most cases. To replace the turret cap simply note the location of the indicator in relation to the turret cap. Loosen the two Allen-head set screws and remove the turret cap from the turret by pulling up on the cap. Replace the turret cap and align the indicator in the same location as the original cap. Tighten the two Allen-head set screws, then reconfirm your zero.

It sounds to me as if your set screws did not reengage in he right place. I would loosen the set screws, ensure that everything is where it should be and retighten them.

Is there any need to push down on the turret cap before tightening the set screws?

Honestly, it’s been a couple years since I’ve reset my zero on my Steiner, but I do seem to recall that I had to keep pressure on it to ensure that it engaged properly. Others with more recent experience can probably chime in with their experience.

So now if I push down and spin the dial it clicks. If I spinnit without applying downward pressure nothing. How much down force do I guys apply before tightening the set screws?

You should have backed out the set screws so that the turret can be pushed down flush, or as flush as possible before re-tightening the set screws again. It still sounds like the turret isn’t in the right position. If you did this and that is the result I would call Steiner.

Got it to work. Looks like the trick is to set it at the zero and the turret bottomed out while applying downward and clockwise pressure. Once that is done and the set screws tightened can rezero it. The down and clockwise pressure I believe allows the little brass colored piece in the turret (which moves the elevation number in the window) to seat onto the pin which is on the scope itself.
The clicks feel great...just wish it was less annoying to set.

Did you get your turret issue figured out? Curious as what it could be.
Yes he did. Right here in post #10:

Hi guys. Wondering if someone can help. I am looking to reset the Turrets on my Steiner Mx3-15 to zero the scope. When attempting to loosen the set screws my allen key does seem to grip onto anything to either loosen or tighten.

If the set screw wasnt in fact in there, the turret would just freely spin without any clicks right?

is there a chance I am using too small of an allen key?
