Help please guys? Steyr SSG PII's are currently offered here very very cheaply. A colleague is considering buying one but the question is will this rifle perform all the way out to the 1,000yd mark with careful ammunition selection??? Can somebody with first hand experience of these rifles please give a detailed answer?

Thank you.

Re: Steyr SSG PII

1. The weak link of the SSG is the stock. Sometimes they can crack and break. If the barrel warms up it tends to shift the POI. An awesome system otherwise.

2. Forget about the proprietary (SSG) rings. Get a 20 or more degree canted base and have it tapped for the receiver.
