Im guessing the rear set up for 2020 model is diff from duo where rear sights is attached to the plate?
Is rear sight mounted on the slide?
I hit the 3k mark with mine last weekend. I shot 500 rounds of Federal 115gr bulk and 200rounds of 147gr Gold Dot Without issue. I guess this gun just doesn't like WWB. I don't mind taking my RMR off once a year to change the battery, the same day of the year I change my Aimpoint batteries. I haven't had one fail to return to zero yet. In fact, I've had the RMR off of this STI 3 times for various reasons and remounted without making any adjustments. Speaks to the quality of the machining by both Dawson and Trijicon. The Newer DUO plates are thinner than the original. The RMR sits about the same height on the mount as the DPP without it. The battery life on the DPP kills it for me, but I don't get state issued batteries.

It’s not the return to zero that I worry about, especially since it’s cowitnessed anyway. It’s more the screws/threads and locktite that makes me anxious. Doesn’t seem like that would be good for the threads to continually locktite and break yearly. I love the RMR and the ruggedness factor though and will continue to run it. You know I think I just need to get another P or maybe the C and put the DPP on it. Problem solved! Lol.
Screws are cheap if you wear them out 10 years from now. Dawson would most likely replace the plate if the threads wore out too. I dont see that happening during the serviceable life of the optic. I use a MINIMAL amount of blue loctite and it keeps the screws tight, but breaks relativity easy with the hex key.
It's not too weird, WWB is known for being shitty ammo. I don't think there is anything to fix. The extractor tension is correct. The gun runs 100% on federal bulk, Blue Bullet reloads, Lawman, and Gold Dot. The Gold Dot being what matters. That said, I've had 4 or 5 FTE in 3k total rounds and all of then have been from the same lot of WWB.
Those are fair points. Really impressed with the sti/Dawson package. I know it’s an expensive gun, but what you get is amazing!
well it was fun while it lasted. Didnt make it past 3100 rounds and it is KIA. The mag catch broke in the middle of a string of fire and it will no longer hold the mag in. I have an email in to STI, we'll see what they say.

got home popped out the mag release and popped it back in. Seems to be working fine now. This, however, does not change the fact that the pistol was rendered useless during a string of fire. Gonna head back out and shoot some more and see how it does.

STI just called. They are sending me a new mag catch today. The guy said they have reworked them to prevent this hang up from happening.
Do you have the older model with gen 1 mag catch? I assume the “fix” they mention is on the 2020 version?
Look into W&C, Better leather, cheaper and A grade can be bought direct from factory in singles (HO requires 20). You can even buy backs. HO is not what it used to be.

Texas Custom Dies can also make you a belt punch that will make both look perfect. Both are money will spent.
I went down the leather route a few years ago and had a full leather shop in my house including Cowboy4500, 818, ect. Sold it all to buy more guns.

Got the new mag catch from STI yesterday. It is definitely different and the machining is cleaner. It will be a week or so before I get out to shoot.

Almost seems like we are beta testing. I was going to pick up the C2 DUO that my shop has, but I think I'll wait a bit. Maybe Dawson will make a recoil system for it later.

Yeah, I'm still not sure how that will prevent the hang up from happening again, but they say it will. There is also a relief cut that is circled in red, that is not on the old one. The machining on the old one is pretty rough in that area.
I will probably consider a C2 in the future, provided this gun goes back to running for the next several thousand rounds. I will be waiting for the Dawson guide rod to come out for the 3.9", and probably for it to be OEM like on my P instead of a $200 upgrade.
Just got mine back from Extreme Shooters with their grip service and installed Dawson’s magwell. Love this thing.
Sweet! How aggressive is the stippling? I carry mine IWB 90% of the time. Did you have them reduce it any?
It’s pretty aggressive. I wouldn’t want it rubbing up against my skin while carrying. I typically wear an undershirt when carrying in winter which is what I plan for this. Can’t really get away with it in the summer unfortunately.
Got out and put a couple hundred through it with the new mag release without issue. Added some light to it and ordered a Black Point Tactical Mini Wing that will fit the x300. I've mainly been carrying in a LAS Concealment Shogun, but the Mini Wing looks a little less bulky.

Shooting has slowed down a little bit lately. Pistol has been 100% reliable since the issue with the mag catch. Still glassy smooth and tight.
The Black Point Tactical Mini Wing that i ordered in June still hasn't arrived. I was told 6-8 weeks when I ordered. I have sent an email a month for the last 2 months and they always say "any day now."

Got my holster from Blackpoint Tactical today. This appears to be a leather wing, but what I ordered was the mini wing. The build quality is impressive. I'm happy with it and it seems to be very comfortable. It took 4 months on a 6-8 week estimate, and its not the holster I ordered, but it is very well done. I think it will definately be my preference over the LAS holster that I've been carrying.

I really like this line of pistols and have had a chance to shoot the 2 I have a good bit. At first I got a P duo.
I liked the P duo so much I called up Dawson Precision and ordered an XC. When I finally got some more ammo and had a chance to shoot the XC I was pleasantly surprised, again. What’s not to be liked.View attachment 7545065
