Maggie’s Stolen Bike

Re: Stolen Bike

There are a lot of stolen bicycles out there. It can be fun to confront random, casual riders and shout, "Hey you, stop, that's my bike!"

Depending on your acting ability, it can yield interesting reactions.

I love the poster maker's sentiment. I don't know that I'd want to kill someone just for stealing my or my daughter's bike, but I am comfortable in saying I would probably enjoy reading about the thief dying a painful death. All the more so if the death was rife with irony such as getting t-boned (on said bike) by a bus after running a stop sign!

This is something I hadn't thought of, and will definitely need to try.

I guess it is all good fun when some third party tries to help you by stopping that innocent biker by knocking him off the bike, eh?

Re: Stolen Bike

Actually, I like to put suspicious characters on the spot.

Interpret that as you please, but I'm tired of having my, and my neighbors things, stolen by opportunistic petty thieves. Thus, I find my infrequent challenges to be a reasonable and enjoyable way of "giving back to the community"!

I have had one asshole dump a bike and run off and three people nervously deny the bike they were on was stolen while unable to name the brand or other particular pertaining to it.

As to people jumping in to assault an innocent rider in such an instance, I guess it's possible. As I do this about three or four times a year on average, it may be a while before you can tell me you told me so!

Also, I confront random people carrying landscaping equpment too!

I live just a couple of blocks from some subsidized housing projects.
The ratio of lil gansta dudes riding girls bikes is quite high around here.

That's a shame! The old style boy's bikes might have a sterilizing effect on em!

Re: Stolen Bike

I live in the area this was posted, williamsburg hipsters are ridiculous. They all have bikes and they dress like goddamn pirates and space people.

It's amazing how easy it is to steal a bike in the city. A friend of mine used my 10 lb. kryptonite chain to tie up his bike down the hall from me while he was away and someone took a buzzsaw to the chain in the middle of the night and snatched it. A bike mechanic friend told me it had to have been a heavy duty saw too.

Re: Stolen Bike

Old saying:

All bicycles weigh 40 pounds. A 20 pound bike needs 20 pounds of lock and chain. A 30 pound bike needs 10 pounds of lock and chain. No one will steal a 40 pound bike.

If it's a 15 pound racing bike with a carbon frame and Campagnolo components, better chain it to a cop, though.

Re: Stolen Bike

I returned home last week to find that my bike had been TRADED! I guess some piece of shit decided that the C.A.R.S. (cash for clunkers) program applied to his bike as well.... He left me his bike, which at one time was a nicer bike than mine, but the front brake cable was broken and both tires were shot.... I don't really care though, I no longer used the thing and guess that it will serve as a better use for the thief.
