I have some new guy questions and I hope they have not been beaten to death.
Yesterday I got my first piece of night vision, a PVS7 GEN 3 omni3. It is not auto gated. Outside last night it looked good to my inexperienced eyes, I just ordered a high-tech redneck T20 infinity so I can hopefully get enough reach to use it for hunting. I went with the goggle rather than a scope so that I could use them walking into stands, scanning without pointing my rifle where I don’t want to, etc. I also ordered a used rhino mount from eBay and a plastic bump helmet from Amazon.
Yes, I know this is cheap gear, but I am on a limited budget which I have already gone over this means I can in no way afford a Steiner or Myers or vampire etc. for a laser.
I got this to hunt coyotes with. My question regarding the two lasers in the title line is which would be better for coyotes out to 200 yards, or hopefully A little farther If I am able to safely resolve at that range? I read reviews online that said the stream light has a 12 inch.dot at 200 yards and the laser max has a 2 inch dot at the same distance. Does anyone who owns one of these lasers know if this is correct? 12 inches sounds on usable, which is too bad because I like the looks of the construction of the stream light.
The stream light has an aluminum body and looks very rugged. It takes 123 batteries which I like. The laser max is plastic and does not look nearly as rugged. I would be worried about breaking this off in use. It also takes small button batteries. if someone owns the laser max, can you comment on their durability?
anything else I should be thinking of in regards to lasers in this price range? That TLR vir2 is $315 the laser max is 240.
also, do I need to worry about ruining my night vision goggles with muzzle flash? I have an a2 flash hider on my AR. My device is not auto gated.
One more question; if my laser is mounted at 9 o’clock say an inch and a half from the center of the bore, is the best way to sight in just with the dot an inch and a half to the left of the bullet impact so it would stay the same all the way out?
Sorry for the punctuation, I’m speaking into the microphone on the iPad.
thanks For the help.
