Suppressors SUPPRESSOR COOLANT

I've been shooting the piss out of my sealed 22 cal suppressor that the manufacturer recommends coolant be used in. I've used water, WD40, Liquid Wrench, PB BLASTER (BEST SO FAR) and Break Free. The can has since been sent to Liberty for a retro fit and now that I'll be able to take it appart, I'd like to experiment with either grease or ultrasound gel. I'd like to use a grease or gel because the pistol goes in the woods during archery season (to shoot random cats, possums, squirrels) and experience shows that most oils drip and are smelly.

Thinking about packing it full of deer shit... kidding.

Looking for some input on what works the best.

Use liquid deer scent can't be much differnt than piss ore water which I use

A bit of water works well, and wire pulling gel is about $7 for a near lifetime supply (32oz?) The gel doesn't run and lasts for a while.

wiring pulling gel seems to work well. stuff makes a mess, but works.

Why are you using coolant in a 22lr suppressor?

What suppressor is this? And what is it mounted on?

The manufacturer (William's Mfg.) recommends a coolant for the suppressor. I've shot it both wet and dry, and the difference is very noticeable. Although it's not a big name suppressor, it's super quiet with a few drops of liquid. I've shot it next to a Mite and an Oasis and I'm very happy with it's performance.

I'm shooting it on a Walther P22 and Ruger 77/22.

Liberty is doing the retrofit, I'll put up some pictures of the guts when it's apart. I wasn't going to squirt grease or any kind of gel in it due to being a bastard to clean.

I dont see the need to put any liquid in a 22 can. they are pretty damn quiet as is.
Have you tried some subsonic rounds? They are scary quiet...

Liquid in a 9mm or 45 acp now that makes a difference....

I put beer in my Warlock a couple of times just to try it, and it works just as well as water.

yeah i think .22 cans are quiet enough to not worry about wet. the deer piss idea is a funny good idea. why not just oil it up or water and put a piece of tape over then end, and shoot through it, the first few shots will be quiet and you wont drip everywhere. and the liquid will prolly stay in there for a while.

Must have been Gemtech huh? That's what they recommended I use as well. Good stuff. Get yourself a 20ml syringe and the biggest needle you can find for adding it to your can. You should have seen the look on the guy's face @ Big R when I told him what I was looking for(I don't dress like a hick). I found a massive syringe/needle in the livestock section. The dude that helped me find it probably thought I was about to shoot up something major! Ha ha...

I use beer pretty often, my friend owns a beer distributor and always has plenty at his house when I'm squirrel killing. I'll try the wire pulling gel, the can is at liberty getting tweaked and will come apart easily with a one piece baffle. I'll be able to pull the guts and smear all kinds of shit in there.

The can metered 124.5 dry, not sure what it did wet... it can only be better with goop inside.

I do have a Gemtech HVT, wonder if Clear Glide will make that quieter...

ive used a high temp/high pressure lithium grease (like from mobil) works pretty good , gonna give the wire pulling gel a try also

I have been using ultrasonic gel,last's longer in the can than water and does not leave behind a residue.

I use wire pulling gel from Lowes or Home Depot. Get the clear stuff. It works GREAT and is cheap. It's water based, so as it ablates it leaves no residue. I'll either squirt a ring in the blast chamber (pistol caliber only or .22) and screw the booster back on, or I have a syringe with a length of tube on it. The end is plugged and 4 holes run around the circumference. Run it down the muzzle end and it's pulled out I depress the the syringe and deposit the gel in an even manner.

I use Ultrasound gel in my mite works god and doesn't smell and easy clean up. Get to know a nurse and they will probably give you a half of a bottle

I've never heard of anyone using coolant on/in their suppressor. Can you use coolant in any can, or are they specifically made to facilitate the use of such?

I am having problems with heavy mirage on mine that I have mounted on my .308, so this could actually be the solution. I have a modular version, so this may not work though.

Anyone have a picture of a disassembled suppressor with coolant in it? Just need to compare the inner mechanics to see if it would work in mine.

Coolant is only recommended for rimfire or pistol suppressors. You might call up Rifles Only and order one of their TAB covers to help with the mirage.
