Been reading up the past few days and I feel like im even more confused now. I was going to give the TAB SAS a try, but then looking at the SAS-1 and SAS-R, I couldnt decide... Then I looked at the thunderbeast covers, and the names follow their suppressors, which makes me not sure they will fit my SDN-6. Seems to be 6 one, half dozen other on which is "better", then I found Griffin Industries that wants twice the price of the other two... Didnt even get to iron industries and figured id ask.

Who has which one and how did you like it? Pictures on a SDN-6 if possible, and do you order short so you can still use the QD, or just pull it off if youre going to remove the suppressor? I dont really care about melting issues, its going on a precision gun in 308 so likely wont ever be shot fast enough to cause an issue.

I ordered a Tab SAS-R in multicam for my phantom. I really like it. Fits good and easy to remove if needed. Don''t have a pic of it mounted.

I've never seen any back to back comparisons. It just seems every thread everyone everyone is just happy with the one they got.

After all my research I concluded that it's not rocket science and all of them will probably do close to the same thing and will 'get the job done'. I got the armaggeden gear one for my 338ba and it works just as it should.

That one looks nice too and the price is right...

I have had a bunch of those Bowers Silicone covers. I like them since I can touch the suppressor to make sure they didn't back out on me. They do cut down on mirage. I don't like them because they add bulk and I can't fit the can in the original molle pouch with the cover on.

I see the Tab guy posts a lot on here, and I checked Armageddon as well and they have a perfect fit for my suppressor in stock. Kinda what timelinex said, both look very similar, same price roughly and both have heavy followers with no one really saying one sucks other than a couple guys that nuked them from rapid 223 fire. I might just order one of each (one in FDE and one in black) and see which one I like better!

Only input I have is TAB made their covers then armageddon came out with theirs that are an exact copy. I refuse to buy from armageddon because of that. Im completely happy with my TAB covers. Im sure the armageddons are great too since theyre a copy of the original standard for can covers. Ive still never understood why TBAC sells a knockoff product.

1slow01z71,

Your post is less than accurate, ill leave it at that.

The Armageddon gear products are quality driven, well designed and extremely solid. Im not getting into who did what first, all I will say is that the Armageddon gear covers are top notch an will serve any user well.

I use a TAB cover on my Shark, it simply works, and very works very well, on my HTG Aryies I put a Bowers Silicon cover on it, full auto rated can needed a full auto rated cover.

Why are you guys refuting my post not giving any additional info? Lets get it out in the open if Im missing something. The Armageddon cover looks almost exactly like the TAB can and doesn't function any better than my sasr from TAB. I guess to me it seems pretty cut and dry to me that the TAB came first and the Armageddon came after with almost a carbon copy. What am I missing? I file it in the same category as Midway stealing shooting bag designs from triad and farming them out to china. Just bad practice in my simpleton opinion. While my join date shows me to be relatively new Ive been around a while and have been around shooting for a long time. My first dealings with TAB products was on a TBAC products ironically.

For anyone wandering this is the thread Zak is talking about

If you ask me, it looks like armaggeden gear came out with something that met customers demands and ended up looking alot like another product. It's a simple product, so it's not surprising that they look similar. Many ARs look almost identical, but they aren't, and one didn't necessarily copy the other.

I had the choice between armaggeden and tab and chose armaggeden. This was not random, this was because they do have minute differences and armaggeden seemed to suit me better. The more choices the better.

What is better about the armageddon cover? Serious question, I've used both and they both work great. Ive never haf a complaint with my sasr so I'm trying to understand what the perceived problem is with them.

The main reason I was looking at the Armageddon is they offer the perfect size for my sdn6 and have it in stock where as with the tab, it has to be custom ordered and a couple weeks out. The game changer was it looks like tab is an active supporter on here so I became torn between the two. I won't have my suppressor until April per the ATF so I'm not reay in a huge hurry, but I'd rather not have to buy twice if I don't have to. By the sounds of things is be happy with either but I'd like to hear why the above two switched companies before I purchase.

It would definitely be a good idea for TAB to stock covers for the popular cans for sure. FWIW I had my cover to my door in a week and a half and that seems pretty normal from what othet people have seen. All three I have ordered have been in my possesion within 2 weeks so its really not that bad of a wait.

KNIGH11B4, and I'm pretty sure the story you have is less than accurate too sir, since I do not think we have talked about anything and you haven't heard my side of things at all. Remember what they say about the truth being somewhere in the middle of the stories?

Fenix Mike, I have no idea what you mean by not having to buy twice. If you provide the correct dimensions it is a one time purchase.

We stress not to buy a cover unless it is in your hands or you have confirmed the dimensions with the manufacturer. We have seen website dimensions differ from what a customer gets in his hand. When the customer has jumped the gun and ordered a cover based upon website dimensions and what he gets will not fit his can he is upset and we end up having to make a new cover for him. Most times it is me who eats the extra cost too since I'm trying to make the customer happy.

We ask customers to provide the diameter and length of their can as well as the make and model. I just went back and did a quick check on JUST the AAC SDN 6 cans we've made covers for. There are three different diameters from 1.31 to 1.50 and FOURTEEN different lengths from 7.0 to 8.0 that have been provided by customers for the SDN 6 can. This is a great example of why we stress to the customer that they should measure their own can or confirm the dimensions from the manufacturer before placing an order. FYI, by far the most requested size is 1.5" diameter by 7.66" length.

Concerning inventory, I just checked and there are over 300 of the SAS1,2,and 3 covers in inventory. We try to keep a little bit of every size, in 1/4" increments, and every color, except Highlander, in diameters of 1.5 and 1.625 from 8" to 9.25" and even quite a few odd sizes too. With only these two diameters and this narrow length difference you can see that it's almost impossible to be able to keep every possible cover in inventory. We have made covers from 1" in diameter and 4" long to 2 5/16 in diameter and 24" long. I don't recall us not being able to make a cover for a can.

We don't have the SASR covers in inventory since there is quite a bit more work involved in making them. We have a self imposed shipping timeline of two weeks on individual orders and Like a couple of people have stated we do get them out pretty quickly. For custom work I think we do a pretty good job too. We also offer the PALS webbing option on all the SAS1,2, and 3 models too and make a lot of them.

You want to know why TBAC went from TAB GEAR to Armageddon Gear, here's the quick story. We made the SAS3 at the suggestion of Zac Smith, he wanted a combination of the SAS1, and the SAS2. He wanted to be able to slide the cover back to allow the barrel to cool, so remove the bungee like the SAS2, yet not have velcro on the cover like the SAS1. That is how the SAS3 came about. We made covers for them for about four and a half years and never heard a single word from them about a single one of the covers being lacking in any way. Out of the blue Zak introduces the Armageddon Gear cover saying it's the best thing since sliced bread, you can read what he said on the previous post. I have no idea why we were never contacted by TBAC to address an issue if they were unhappy.

We have had a few customers contact us saying that after the cover broke in that it would slide back onto the barrel when the muzzle was raised vertical and they were not happy with it. We have repaired or replaced every single one of those covers for the owners at our cost.

We try to treat people like we want to be treated and I have no problem looking myself in the mirror and also would have no problem standing up in from of the court of public opinion in any business dealings we have done. Sometimes you get taken advantage of but the good far outweighs the bad, and we are very blessed as a family and company to be doing what we are doing.

At the end of the day there are lots of good products on the market, pick one you like and enjoy it.

TAB cover on an AAC 7.62 SDN-6

Can you post up some pictures of it? How do you like it? I still may order two as a couple of my rifles are FDE and a couple are black... gotta be tacticool with this stuff!

The cover is flush with the front of the suppressor and the rear sits right up against the latch. TAB makes some really sweet stuff and I would not hesitate to buy another one.

Its the SAS3 with bungee retention. This past weekend I shot about 100 rounds on Saturday and the cover moved forward about a 1/4 of an inch. I then realized I never even tightened it with the bungee retention. The barrel and the suppressor were hot as hell but the cover help up perfectly. You'll be very happy with it, trust me.

I'm running a old school TAB cover on my 30P-1 that needs the update but works great. Once my PSS and Achangle get here, they will get TABs also. The dope card holder they make for slings are nice also.

TAB Gear... all the way. Tony understands the value of quality customer service, and no doubt gets taken advantage of FAR MORE than he should tolerate as a result. He has a tremendous passion for the sport, and a commitment to his customers which should serve as the benchmark for all others in the industry to strive for.

My favorite cover is the TAB Gear SAS1.
