I have a yhm t3 I swap between a 16" ar and a 18" bolt gun, both 223/556.

I was out at range today and was doing a ladder test with the ar first. All went well. I was able to confirm zero with 55gr wwb and do my testing and had no issue.

Which leads me to my interesting problem.
I put the can on my bolt gun and couldn't hit paper even at 15 yards! Took can off and all was well. Only thing I've noticed in past is the muzzle brake I have on the bolt gun sometimes makes can hard to get off once it gets warm. Today I noticed after a few shots there was some wiggling and a small baffle strike at very end. I'm gonna try to get the best Pic I can.

I even threw can back on the ar and ran some more 55gr and all was fine.

Anyone know what's causing this? Only thing that's changed since I shot bolt gun was new chassis and reloads but ar had no issue with the reloads.

Ar has the flashhider muzzle device and bolt is muzzle brake. Cant swap one over since threads are different unfortunately.

Well you said it loosened and has a partial strike so that will definitely affect accuracy. Did you snug it down and try again?

You could use a direct thread adapter for the bolt gun if you wanted. Kaw Valley has the, for about $40.

I did. Teeth were lined up. I might just run direct thread. Only issue i have with that is I plan to do some comps this year with it and id prefer the brake over the can. I'll just have to order a DT adapter and test it out. I plan on getting a few cans next year so It's not like I'm stuck with this one between the 2 for life

Yeah it could. Is the end cap removable on that can? Hopefully they can help as I am sure you aren’t the first.

And if you want to run the brake for matches then just run it with the brake and then take the brake off and screw on a can with DT. I have went the opposite and starting to use more cans on my match rifles than brakes.

If you plan to buy more cans then get a flow through style for the AR. Will make using it much nicer. Then keep the YHM for the bolt gun.

I’m confident YHM will take good care of you. I’ve had a few customers that had baffle/end cap strikes that were happy with how YHM handled the issue.
I suspect the problem you experienced was do to the threads on your QD mount having a buildup of junk on them. When you screwed your can onto the mount the junk on the mount prevented the can from tightening down properly. It will also make it harder to unscrew the can from the mount. I would suggest spraying some Rem Oil, or something similar, on the threads and cleaning the mount. It wouldn’t hurt to do the same on the treads inside the can.

None are flow through. You will be happier with a flow through on an AR believe me.

I wouldn’t put anti siege on there. No need. Just something like he mentioned REM Oil or a similar light oil that’s easily cleaned off.

Ah ok and Any recommended flow through? This can does a decent job mitigating gas but I'm always down for better. I'll be renewing my sot and grabbing a few for sure

I have 2 flow through that work great on ARs but there are others. One is a B&T SRBS 762 and the other is a HuxWrx Flow Range 36, which I plan to use on my9mm PCC also.
