I have compared the Ultra 7 and the Dominus CB back to back on my rifle as well as on other rifles in different calibers. The TBAC guys shoot at the same range I do, and I have seen real data as tested by the engineers in person.

Join the contest SubscribeIs the 5 uncomfortable to shoot without hearing protection? How is the recoil reduction?I use a TBAC Ultra 5 on my hunting rifles. I am not terribly worried about dB reduction as I am only taking 1 or 2 shots in the field. What matters to me is weight and size.

As far as dealers go, here's our list, https://thunderbeastarms.com/dealers/ but you'll be better off to use our availability tool to find what you need, about halfway down you can select the suppressor model and it'll report what dealers have recently received them https://thunderbeastarms.com/availabilityThanks for weighing in! I have been browsing through your website. Do you have any retailers in eastern Idaho?
If I understand the CB mount correctly you would install a break on the gun and then have a kind of quick connect to install the suppressor on the break? Is that connection like a 3/4 twist to lock them together or is it more difficult than that?
Does having the break in the CB mount change performance of the suppressor at all vs the direct thread?
While hunting, I don’t wear ear pro. I don’t find them uncomfortable. I was a shooting a 16” 6.5x47 today with an Ultra 5 on it. I found that pretty comfy, I wasn’t high volume shooting though. A 7 is just that much quieter. So with a can like the Ultra 7, are you typically still using hearing protection other than hunting? Is it still uncomfortably loud to shoot multiple times out at the range?
pewscience.com mightJMGlasgow brings up an interesting point. Does anybody know of any third party website that had done side by side testing of suppressors for performance? This one is really interesting on muzzle brakes: https://precisionrifleblog.com/2015/08/21/muzzle-brake-summary-of-field-test-results/. Would love to see a comparable test of suppressors!

Not sure why this posted weird last time so posting again. Do you have the accelerometer data for the dominus as well? I am curious how it stacks up to the Ultra 7.We do have some accelerometer data, from a 308, while the CB brake reduces from a "plain muzzle" by about 24%, the Ultra 9 reduces about 27% and the Ultra 7 reduces about 20%. I can't really go into the technical details of this measurement more right now, but we should be rolling some information out soon.
Odd question, can you use a Q plan b with TBAC’s? Trying to use a single mounting system with my cansAbout 24%, so splits the difference between the 7 and 9, just like the sound suppression level.
I should also point out that these data points are preliminary and we'll be following up on it in the next probably 6 months.
Anybody know the weight of the 30CB break from TBAC? Can't find it on the website.
2.2oz according to another recent thread.
Huh, could have sworn it said 2.6oz on the Dominus page?
Which model of TBAC are you shootings?Another vote for the TBAC from direct experience. There is more to it than DB ratings and weight. Those statistics should be pretty close for most makes. Much better information is recoil reduction, recoil "shape" (direction /pattern of recoil and distance / direction moved off target) and shot-to-shot consistency in impact location. (Of course lots of other factors go into this last one as well, but the can should not be adding any inconsistency at all into that).
When the majority of PRS marksman are using a specific can, there is very likely a great reason for it. They wouldn't be using the TBAC if it didn't work.
I have an Ultra 7 on my 243 and it’s great. I would recommend setting up a hunting rifle specifically for running the can. I originally had a hunter/match rifle with a 26”. It was no fun to hunt with because of the weight and length, especially with the can. I built a new 243 with a 20” barrel and it’s a pure joy with the TBAC Ultra 7 onboard.I had not heard of the TBAC Ultra series before. Thanks for sharing. Looks like the weight and length are awesome if the performance is good. I know this is difficult to impossible to quantify, but those who have used the Ultra 7 (or any other specific makes and models for that matter) how much reduction to recoil do you feel like there was? Does it make a big caliber shoot like a .308? Are you able to stay on target and watch impact?
A TBAC Dominus K w/ CB mount a would be money! But Not sure they are offering it now!?
They all seem very heavy. The lightest one listed is 17 oz.MANTIS - AMTAC Suppressors
amtacsuppressors.com
I bought a version which I didn't find on the website. They appear to have revamped their product line since I purchased my suppressor.
I use my suppressors strictly for hunting, and for all practical intent and purposes mothballed my SilencerCo Omega.
My two primary hunting bolt guns have 22" barrels (308W & 6.5 CM). The 3" +,- extension making the o/a length of the barrel 25-26" makes for a more manageable rifle. The barrel pofile required + the weigh of a suppressor makes for a heavier overall rifle. The shorter o/a rifle with the over barrel design eliminates one draw back of hunting suppressed.
I primarily hunt in box blinds and a rifle barrel approaching 30" was unwieldy. I also found the rifle(s) most convenient hunting horseback as well.
Since I own and have shot rifles with both the over barrel AMTAC & a SilcenerCO Omega, I cannot discern an difference in sound level between the two.
In the interest of full disclosure, I do not work for or have any interest in AMTAC. I'm just a satisfied customer.
Very nice! What is the rifle?TBAC Ultra 7 6.5 CB for the win!
Does anyone know if you can direct thread the Nomad-TI onto your barrel or do you have to go with a
Very nice! What is the rifle?
Is the Nomad Ti set to just direct thread on at the 9.6 oz or are you needing to use the keystone break or something else to attache which adds weight?Nomad Ti is shorter, lighter, and very slightly quieter. I have an Ultra 7, Nomad, and Nomad Ti. The Ultra 7 is a fantastic can, but it’s been surpassed for the best hunting can IMO.
In case anyone else is wondering the same thing, I contacted Dead Air and the 9.6 oz weight includes the insert for direct thread. Is the Nomad Ti set to just direct thread on at the 9.6 oz or are you needing to use the keystone break or something else to attache which adds weight?
Does anyone have any experience with the Dead Air E-Brake on the end of a Nomad or Nomad TI suppressor?
I am hoping someone has one and can weigh it for me. I contacted Dead Air and they are not able to tell me what it weighs. Also curious if people thought it was a worthwhile add on to the suppressor.
