hello
i have been doing a lot of reading and i have decided to consider these two scopes. it will be going on a savage flcp-k .308. I deer hunt and target shoot some.Iwould like to have optics that would allow me to shot longer ranges. I live in western kentucky so there are not alot of wide open spaces but there are a few. I am pretty set of the magnification range of 3-15. I wonder about the difference in the 42 vs 50 objective. The redicles are very different .
I thank any one for your replies

Just a suggestion, but the SWFA makes a great rimfire and air rifle scope because of the 6 meter parallax side focus. I quit buying scopes with 50Y parallax because I switch scopes around. 6M focus is nice for dry fire practice inside as well.

That SS ( SWFA SS 3-15x42 Tactical Rifle Scope ) is a small-ish and light scope for its power. Certainly lighter than the Weaver ( Weaver Tactical Rifle Scope 30mm Tube 3-15x 50mm 1/10 Mil Adjustments ). Weaver has illumination though. I think the SWFA SS will make an excellent hunting scope. One thing to consider is what is the warranty like on the SS scopes? Of that, I do not know.

In your shoes I would also consider the FFP Vortex Viper ( Vortex 4-16x50 Viper PST 30mm Rifle Scope ). Although more expensive, it weighs 2 ounces less than the SS and has a lifetime fully transferable warranty.

The I would go with the weaver every day of the week. I sold my first one to buy the swfa 5-20 hd. I immediately sold the swfa and bought another weaver. Glass is way way better, it has illumination, and the reticle is better also.

I have both. While the weaver has great glass for its price point it in no way is better than the ss 5-20.
