I am going to order one today since they are on sale. Has anybody compared the two side by side? I am mainly concerned with brightness and clarity. Is the 10x noticeably brighter or clearer than the 12x in normal daylight conditions?

The extra magnification of the 12x would be nice as long as the image isn't compromised. It will be for range use only. I had a 20X years ago and the image was too dark and the eye box was very small and touchy.

Thanks.

I have both. There's really no difference in clarity but there is once you get up to the 16. With the 12 you get a little more magnification but sacrifice a little FOV and exit pupil. You can't go wrong with either.

I have the 12X on my .308 currently and have the 10X on order for my .22. Not having the 10X to compare to, I am pleased with the quality of the 12X. I was between the 10X and 12X for my 700, I went with the 12X as I wanted a little more magnification and the reviews were favorable. I will know more when my 10X arrives, along with the 3-15 I ordered.

I have the 6, 10, and 3-15, but not the 12, so I can't help with this comparison. I have absolutely zero complaints with any of my SWFA SS scopes, even compared to the Vortex PST I recently picked up.
