Hey guys, I'm fairly new to precision rifle shooting but have a fairly straight forward question. I am in the market for a new scope to put on my .308 rifle. I have not been able to find anyone with a SWFA SS scope to look through, but I currently have a sightron SIII 6-24x50 on one of my .223 bolt actions and love it. Only downside is the mismatching turret/reticle.

However, I am looking at purchasing the Sightron SIII tactical 6-24x50 with mil dot/mil turrets. Basically, all other features aside, what is the comparison of glass quality/clarity between the Sightron SIII and the SWFA SS? Hoping to find some guys that have used both.

I have the SS 10X42M w/side parallax I find that the fixed power for my kind of shooting is fine, I'm thinking of taking advantage of the SWFA SS %-20X50 and giving it a try. I think the SS for the money can't be beat....

Have both, the extra couple $100 on the non - illum SWFA 5-20 right now with the coupon is worth it. I would put the glass about the same. The big difference is in the reticle ... the Sightron is SFP and the mildot is setup for 24x ... the SWFA is FFP and scales. The turrents on both are positive and repeatable. The big thing I didn't like on the Sightron was the reticle being setup for 24x and the mildots being so huge. If your shooting known distance bench rest I would choose a different reticle. Not sure if I would chose the FFP SWFA for bench rest shooting but it would work fine, the reticle would just be thicker. Full review of the Sightron here ..

I also have both scopes. They both have great glass. On my 308 I have the SS mounted. I really like the ffp and mil/mil. I have the Sightron on a CZ 204 Ruger. Whistle pig gun. It works great for this application. If I could only have 1 it would be the SS.
