Re: SWFA SS problem
Ok, so today it happened again. Gun has been zeroed and shot several times since, I lined up the 7mmSaum on a 1250 yd steel. My BC said I would need 10.6mil, but it was off a bit (DA). I fired a couple shots both landing about 1.0 high, so I dialed 1.0 down, I fired a couple more shots both landing .5 low. I dialed .5 back up and elevation was perfect. After a couple windage corrections (2ish mph quarter value from 130*) I hit the target. I am not 100% sure the load is as accurate as Id like it to be, but it is plenty repeatable enough to see the differences in scope adjustments and actual change.
So, fast forward a half hour, I decided to switch barrels to .308. This is the same place and conditions I last shot 1250 with my covert .308. I dialed my come up and settled in for the first shot, which landed 5 mils right. Because I forgot to set my zero for the .308.(luckily the elevation is the same for both barrels, only the windage changes .9) so why was I so far right? (thats another question I supppose) Anyhow, I fired another shot, still right. I measured the distance to target,(around 4 mils) and adjusted acordingly, and again I was twice as far past the target as I had adjusted. It was like using a 2nd focal plane scope at half power, my corrections were double what I needed. So I came back halfway on my adjustment and made two consecutive hits.
So Im really wondering what the problem is, Im fully prepared to admit that its me. I just dont know what it could be. Any suggestions?
