Well-It's came down to TWO optics for my sabre...
#1...SWFA 1-4X24
#2...IOR "Pitbull"

I'm looking for a rugged optic with a reasonable battery life (hopefully at least 24 hours continuous on) to shoot out in the 300-500 meter range at the most...this is going to be my SHTF rifle, and may end up with me in my patrol car! I know that this website has always given me good info-just needing a little help in deciding how my saved up drill checks will be spent! (I've been saving up for quite some time...) Thanks in advance!

Re: SWFA vs IOR

Ok-I'm thinking the SWFA-esp after that review (THANKS!)...NOW--time for the mounts; what do y'all advise? They advertise "SWFA bobro" mounts, which I have never heard of...they also advertise S.S.A.L.T. mounts-but never heard of them...I should advise that my upper has a front sight post, will the mount get my optic over the front sight post? (this is my first big build-thanks for the help!)

One other thing-what's battery life like?

I would recommend the SWFA Bobro mount. Basically its a mount made by Bobro and has SWFA's logo on it. Its a solid piece of kit, returns to zero much better than some other "highly acclaimed RTZ" mounts.

Re: SWFA vs IOR

I like the one IOR I own. Just got a SS 1-4 a few weeks ago and it is very nice. I would say SS...got mine in their group buy with a Bobro mount. Hard to beat.

Re: SWFA vs IOR

I have had 8 IORs, while I tried to love them I had to send 5 of them back for replacement. Although, my fixed 4x IOR is a freaking tank and has been prefect since day one. I love that scope.

I have had 4 SS scopes, not one of them has had a single problem in any way. Two of which are the SS 1-4xs, those are very very nice scopes.

Re: SWFA vs IOR

What I like about the pitbull is that it is 1 or 4 power, almost no one uses 2 and 3 on one of these scopes anyway.

I don't recall ever seeing anything bad about the pitbulls.

Re: SWFA vs IOR

Will the "Bobro" mounts get my reticle over the front sight post? Or will they "co-witness?" ...Still not totally sure about what that means...I am planning on getting troy BUIS to put under it-will all this fit & work? Also-Is this a "quick-detach" mount? I just wanna make sure before I drop all this money I've been saving for all these drills...Thanks again!
