Finally had the chance to take out the G11 beyond 100yds. Did some distance shooting with some other rifles, and saved the Swiss for the end. Target was a 2/3 IPSC @ 300yds. Ammo was GP11. Using the Swiss Products Diopter, did my best to aim for the upper part of the plate. Again, the physics/optical wizardry of the diopter sight is amazing to me. First shot...DING! Amazing I can do this with 56yr old eyes (that wear 2.00 cheaters) with a bit of astigmatism tossed in. Continued to ding the plate far more than I missed. Not bad. One thing both I and the guy I was shooting with noticed was the VERY distinctive sound that the GP11 round makes...it’s akin to a “whoosh” and a “buzz” combined. I didn’t notice this at the square range probably due to the bench and baffled overhead roof. Out in the pasture...it’s quite noticeable. Am I (we) nuts on this? He had good luck with it as well...got him looking at Swiss rifles now...lol.
Now I need to find a good load using the 175smk and R17. I’ve got a spread loaded up, but need a square range visit to do it right.
