Synthetic bag fill material source

Well, since to no avail have I been able to get any feedback from Triad/Redman on their triangle tactical bags, I am pursuing having made/making some of my own design. What material and SOURCE for material would you guys recommend for bag fill. I have googled Poly pellets, and received various sources, that aren't very helpful with informational details, so thought I would ask here.

As mentioned local arts and crafts stores carry it. Also known as doll fill. Not sure what other info you need but the results from the search are what you need as far as product. Not much more info than poly pellets. Some stores to look at are Michaels, AC Moore or Joanns craft stores.

The poly fill is available at your Walmart store, 32oz for $4.49.
I just replaced the sand in my shooting bags with the poly.

I have used the poly pellets as well as those air soft rounds. Local sporting goods store had them dirt cheap and they worked very well.

I talked to Steve (Triad) yesterday about the wedge bags. He told me the last 2 shipments from Eagle were too full the first time and way underfilled the second time. He said the after they fix them he should have around 140 of them. He said he should get them back after Christmas.

That's why the folks that make bags get paid.....

Pay the money and go to the trade shows and you'll find all sorts of cool stitch bitch stuff.

I used barrel beads from the craft and fabric store. I think I got a bag of 500 beads for 2.99. It took two bags of beads to fill my sock and make a wonderful little shooting rear bag.

I dont recall anyone contacting me about a source for bag fill, sorry if I missed your comm shot.

The Tapered Rear Bag is manufactured for Triad by a third party, who provides the fill.

RTG makes the beer can shaped rear bags, of which Triad sells more than a few, but I dont know where RTG gets the fill.

If you find a source that can supply it in bulk, like 200+ pounds, please LMK.

If your local craft place does not have it, try a fabric store. You can use airsoft pellets to, but they are not my fav.

Thanks folks, I have looked at all the usual suspects here in the burbs of Atlanta, including last try at 'Michaels' this evening. None of them, including Wal-Mart have any Poly-beads in stock. I looked at actual 'beads' at several places, but they seem to be overpriced for making several bags.....

I think I will order some online, I can say that there are different weights, and although I can't find a small enough volume, Polypropolene re-grind is used by a few mfgs. which seems like a good option to me. My goal would be to find some with a bit of weight to them, but don't want to go to sand....

I have seen options for weighted and unweighted online, I think I will try some weighted ones first and see how they go.

I would have ordered quite a few of the Triad triangle bags if they were available, and if they are after Christmas, may do so then too....never mind paying a fair price for a good product--and they certainly look to be such. I did in fact order several of their other bags, have received them and like them.

I have both the Triad wedgie and the TAB bag. I certainly prefer the finer fill size of the wedgie. Feels like squeezing sand whereas the TAB bag obviously feels like big pellets.

I'm wondering how hard of a job it would be replace the tab fill, hmmm.

Or you could go to the kids dept. at Wally World, find one of those really light fluffy style pillows, cut it open and use the fill. I've done two that way with pillows that my kids tore up. The stuff is light and works great!

Ebay is the best place I've found to get them. I usually end up paying around $1.25-$1.50 per pound shipped. I usually buy in 20 pound quantities. I'm not sure if this is a great deal, but it's a hell of a lot cheaper than craft stores.

A while back I bought like 32K of air soft bb's to do this very sort of project(8K bulk bags are stupid cheap compared to the bitty bottles of 'em at walmart). They do fill a bag, they don't absorb any water, they are light but not too light, and they do provide a firm platform. What I don't like is how noisy they are inside the bag. I double walled the bags I made and that seemed to tone down the plasticky rattle a little bit. The looser the fill is, the more noise you get....if that sort of thing even matters to you.

Good intel folks, thank you. It looks like the pellets on e-bay are in the right zone. I do want a bit of weight to them, and those are priced better than the one internet site I have been able to locate a reasonable purchasble volume from. I thik if I could find a reasonable pricing structure, the little tiny 'seed beads' would be a great option, they would have a bit of weight to them and should perform well....just finding a volume at a decent price.....

Plastic airsoft BBs from Wallyworld dude. 7 bucks buys you enough to make 2 rear bags.

You can try the Airsoft BBs, but in my experience, they aren't near as good as the poly pellets. They're too big, too light, too noisy, and they aren't as steady/stable in the bag as the poly pellets.

Just my experience.

Through the years I've never been able to find these plastic beads to make a shooting bag. We have several Hobby Lobby's here and all I could ever find were these tiny bags of beads for like $3 each. I figured it would cost around $200 to make a small bag.

Just ordered an RTG bag from Triad. Time to get rid of the sand filled socks.
