Hunting & Fishing TAB gear sling for hunting

anyone on here use one while hunting? i like the looks of it, but i would be satisfied with something less tactical. i do need something with flush cups though. the rifle this sling is basically a non-traditional hunting rifle that i will do some long distance shooting with.

I ran a TAB gear Elite sling in my Noveske N6 for a bear hunt - great set up! Only complaint was the metal buckle in the middle makes a lot of noise when it finds your box magazine - tape helped, but that's the only real complaint. I found myself holding it in my support hand, next to the rifle, to silence it on the final stalk.

I have TAB slings on all my rifles- competition or hunting. If you use your sling for more than a carry strap, they are the way to go. I have his standard slings on the lighter rigs, and elite biathlon slings on my heavier magnums or guns I have to hike a long way carrying. I have climbed verticle rock after several miles of hiking with a 15lb rifle on my back using one of Tony's biathlon slings and it was hardly noticeable. Plus, it still has all the function of a match sling. Cant go wrong. If you are seriously worried about noise, I would avoid the elite series with the cobra buckles. They tend to swing a little and can hit things when you unsling the rifle, but this is very minor.

I made some sock/silencers for the buckles, slider and thru the swivel loop to stop the clanking and creaking.

i'm thinking about getting the 'slip cuff' TIS sling. No buckles (from what i can see), no metal parts causing noise ... With our shy red-deer i think this sling will be a better solution.

Tab slings on everything I own - hunting and competition rifles. I use different ones for different purposes.

Guys, we also offer our sling with no buckles but with all the same features included. Sling up loop, hard point at the rear, etc.

That is what it sounds like you need jackh. The non buckle version is what I have on a couple of my hunting rifles as well as my daughters rifle. They're quite a bit more streamlined and work great.

Also, I've heard before that some people don't like our slings because the rear swivel is sewn in. If this is a concern you can simply by the sling with no swivels. The tail at the rear will come with a longer piece of loose webbing extending from the triple sewn section and a metal slider. This will allow you to purchase the swivels of your choice to install at the rear just like they are at the front of the sling.

I have had a few of the non-buckle tab gear slings and they work great.

my current favorite sling is the mountain shooter sling, a little easier to get snug and builds a more stable position for me

i cant find that on the rifles only website. could you post a link to that sling? that sounds like the one for me.

nvm i found it on google. do you have any picture of it that you could post on here? there arent pictures of it on the rifles only website.

also, if i get the sling with fastex buckles, the sling can still be used without the center loop portion in place, right? the length can still be adjusted and i can carry the rifle on my back even if the center portion is removed? i was under the impression that the center portion was solely for the loop, then the buckles were there for easy removal etc

Just got one of these. I plan on doing a video review of it and posting it on my youtube channel at some point.

It would be a great hunting sling. Since when is a long strap of Cordura "too tactical for hunting" anyway? Take a look at the Wally World hunting slings and you'll see a lot of black Cordura all over the place. At least Tony gives you the option of picking a more natural color.

Having the option of the field use ready cuff via the sliding plastic buckle is very appealing for a sling-and-coat shooter like myself. I've played with it in the kneeling position and sitting position using the cuff. The video review will include using it this way on some rather small targets at not insignificant distances.

Rifle has flush cups and weighs 17 lbs. I'm thinking this should be a comfortable set up especially when hucking this 17 lb. stick around all day long.

Jackh, I'll try to get a picture of the sling with no buckles up tomorrow for you.

On our regular sling with buckles you can take out the center section and still use the sling loop. If you set up the front part of the sling for your slung up position and then take out the center section there is no way of adjusting the length of carry since you've just removed it from the sling.

The front section is where you adjust for the slung up position.

The center section is where you adjust for the length of carry.

The rear section is the triple thickness section that provides a thicker section to help in supporting the butt of the rifle.
