Tactial Rifles 308 Rifle

I will tell ya'll this now. The timing of this is kinda weird. After a few days of reading the thread started by "Moses The Tank" I went to tactical rifles web page and sent them an email that read " Theres a guy over on snipers hide showing pictures of one of your rifles and telling of the problems after problems he had with your company. He has pictures, copies of emails, invoices and everything. You need to go over there and defend yourself". And four days later Mr "Rem700300wsm" shows up with this thread.

They say "Timing is everything" and in this case I think that is a very true statement.

Check out this gem. That snipers paradise place is a wealth of knowledge.
Suppressed 308 or 300 wsm - SP Sniper Chat

A little snippet on suppressors from some of the experts over there...#2 is my favorite for so many reasons.

Silencers aren't silent.
(2) Silencers are serreptitious devises that limit the effective ranger of the weapon upon which they are mounted.
(3) Novelty of ownership soon wears off after a couple hundred rds. and items (1) & (2) are ever presently realised.

Number 2 maybe correct. He probably had it on a TR.net rifle and was getting baffle strikes on every round fired.

WTF would you email TR about that thread? Are you the internet police?

If you read through this thread from a while back (and still going), you'll see that Lowlight tried to get Rooney to come on the forum and offer his side to the issue. Instead Rooney threatened not only Lowlight with litigation, but went after Marc at Spartan Rifles for FIXING his fuckup, and apparently went after the customer.

Matt/john Smith is very busy. he'll get to it when he gets the time. He just wanted to get the initial post out there so we could tell him if his rifle is up to snuff before he "stretches her legs out to 800 meters". Come on guys.

I have another one in the shop that is being disassembled for a complete rebuild right now. Maybe I should make another video? That would be great timing!

Obviously you've had plenty of time to post the information discussed. You could have done that in the amount of time it took you to make your last post when you said you didn't have the time to post lol.

Marc

I just mouth puked and some went out my nose. Now take that POS rifle and throw it in the fire behind you. Don't forget to actually mount a scope on it first.

Marc, on your website, you should include under a list of services, "rebuild rifles from tactical rifles.net". Or maybe on your home page, a caption that says, "We rebuild rifles from tactical rifles.net".

Let him get the damn website up and running FIRST dammit! :D
Marc, if I were you, I'd blame the website delays on all the time you have to spend un-fucking the TR.net rifles.

:) The website is almost done, I just need to take the time and fill it up with content! It's been that way for, well, ahh who cares.

By the way they will be at SHOT show. Level 2, booth number 20136.

Marc

You should walk up to them with one of their turd rifles and ask them to point out how awesome they are in front of potential buyers.

New to the forum and after seeing all the awesome stuff on here I had to post my new build.

Had the guys at Tactical Rifles build this for me:

.308 Chimera Action on a T7 Stock with a Surefire Can and an IOR 3-18x42 mm scope (painted that myself and need to fix the ring issue) ... have a certificate from TR that it shot a .165 c-c group before they shipped it (3 rd group + sighter) ... personally shooting sub moa out to 300 yards so far but need to keep working to get to what the rifle is capable of.

Can't say how happy I am to have this in my hands and can't wait to really stretch its legs soon (want to take out to about 800 once I gather the appropriate dope).

Hope this is up to snuff for the group here!

Tactical Precision Rifles Law Enforcement Military, Tactical Precision Rifles Law Enforcement Military STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!! Just look at all the information on the web and it should guide you away from this company. If you want a hack job that will cost you about a months pay then Tactical Precision Rifles Law Enforcement Military, Tactical Precision Rifles Law Enforcement Military are the ones to go to. Just do a little research.

Guys I did not make a video. I took lots of still photos to give to the owner (and protect myself in the event of a law suit) and that's it. I don't think he posts here much but he knows about these threads and it will be his choice to post them or not. There really wasn't much of anything different to see in this particular rifle other than the fact that the action was not worked on at all. The threads, face, bolt face, lugs and internal lug abutments were all factory fresh and hadn't been trued. Other than that it was just like every other rescue/rebuild project I've had from that shop :(

I am not associated with TR.net at all and never knew all these issues. However, i did have a TR rifle in 300wm that was built by them for Chris Costa. I got the rifle and had it for a couple of months and shot it and then sold it cause it was a 19.5" barrel and the velocity was low. However, i can tell you that it shot sub half in groups at 100 and i shot it with my handloads at 850 yards at got 4-5" groups. I cant comment at all about stripped screws or anything cause i did not take it apart. It know it had a krieger barrel with a Surefire 338 muzzle break cause Costa has a 338 SF can that he used with that rifle and is the same rifle that was used in the Magpul Rifle Precision DVD series. So that is the only thing i can say about my experience with TR.

When was this rifle built?

It was built for Costa for the Magpul Precision DVD series which came out in mid 2011, so i assume 2010-2011.

Same time frame as the OP. Not a coincidence. The smith I referred to above was a specific person. He built their best rifles. They parted ways over a year ago. The only way that whole story will come out is either through a deposition or catching him in a bar, very late.

Looked at my photobucket and found the pix of the same rifle btw. Again i cant comment about how the rifle was bedded or if they used locktite or not lol. I am just a physician and a shooter. But as far as precision it left nothing on the table. I really wanted to keep it but when i compared it to my 22" 300wm it was down 150fps in velocity using the 208 amax and even more with the 225bthp. But it still got to 850 with no problem and gave me 4-5" groups.

Are you saying that the rifles that were built prior to year ago were good to go and the newer ones have issues? Doesnt matter much to me cause i am not in the market for another bolt action precision rifle just wanted to know.

I'm not going to say GTG because at the same price point (less, actually) I have a few SAC and Accurate Ordnance rifles sitting in my gun room that are far superior. But if you compare what came before and since that time period it was much, much better. There was still some obvious work with a Dremel (he did this without apology) and other flaws, but no where near the ham fisted butcher quality we have seen so much of.

My current 300wm was done by Mark at SAC and its dead nuts accurate :)

I keep reading all the bad posts about TR.net and I'm confused. I own 3 TR rifles all of which are great shooting rifles. 300wsm, 223 ar and the newest 7mm-08. The company and David Rooney have been super. It appears that somebody had a problem with them posted something negative and everyone jumped on the pile. I can only speak for myself but I think that Tactical Rifles is a standup company.image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

This shit again, really?!?! I wish a moderator would IP ban Rooney.

It's kind of funny we have not even heard back from the OP.

Then we have another come on here and try to stick up for this POS sorry excuse for a rifle builder.

From Florida, eh?

... I'm confused. I own 3 TR rifles... everyone jumped on the pile...

Axiomatic, tragic... not sure of the right language to categorize the bolded words above. Perhaps a subliminal enema of the conscience. And we all know the nature of the pile. Just avoid being down wind.
