Anybody have this?

I have been looking at getting it for not only field use but also as a daily jacket, but almost a $300 price tag seems kinda steep for something I cant actually touch before buying.

Thoughts on TAD gear in general?

Re: TAD Gear Spectre Hoodie LRP v2

I am a big fan of TAD clothing. I own a Ranger Hoodie V4 and two Stealth Jackets (old version with out the hood. I did a two week test and evaluation on the FAST Pack and a few various pouches. The pack and pouches I was not very thrilled about but the clothing has been very impressive. Though it screams "Tactical" when you were it so don't expect a low profiles look.

The Ranger Hoodie is a must have. I use it exclusively under my heavy vest in the winter. The Stealth Jackets are great as a shell in heavy winds or with some minor precipitation. Any prolonged heavy rain and it will seep through.

I will end up purchasing more TAD clothing in the near future. Lately I have been eying the merino wool gear they have.

TAD gear is quality. I bought a Spectre Hoodie LRP v2 before Christmas so have not had long enough to know its full potential but so far, Im well impressed.

Very good quality, the stitching is very good, a decent material and just a very well thought out bit of clobber as we say over here.

Great service from them, prompt delivery. I am already looking at placing another order with them. IMHO, TAD gear is GTG.

Great....how the heck am I supposed to justify yet another gear expenditure? Wait, my North Face jacket needs replaced....BINGO!

Re: TAD Gear Spectre Hoodie LRP v2

I've got a load of TAD Gear stuff - Ranger Hoodie, Special Service Sweater, Predator Hard Shell, Pathfinder fleece, Merino Braincase and Neck Gaiter.....

I'm a jacket and fleece junkie and I've not found anything I like better (and I have tried!!

)

Quality is A1 - only issue I've had was on the sweater some of the stiching had not been done correclty but easliy repaired (if I'd been in thge US I'm sure the warranty would have taken care of it but seemed like too much hassle for two inches of stitching).

I know some of the kit is manufactured " offshore" but I've got both US and "offshore" items and it has never been an issue.

The only think I ever got from TAD that I sent back was a pair of trousers ....having said that, my first choice on these is Arktis, the TAD pair was just an experiment

I love the way that TAD give really accurate sizing charts...something I wish other on-line clothing outlets copied!

And the extra detailing on TAD (like D rings in the pockets...are really weel thought out and practical.

Go with TAD....it is not cheap, but it is great kit!

Re: TAD Gear Spectre Hoodie LRP v2

Quality gear - not cheap though (holds resale value way better than sports brands though). Personally the Spectre LRP v2 is my favorite of their softshell designs - I upgraded from a Gen2 Stealth recently - good improvements on it (hood, pockets, material), worth the upgrade price.

The Patagonia MARS Dimension softshell might be worth checking out as well - bunch of closeouts on ebay of those, looks pretty nice.

Re: TAD Gear Spectre Hoodie LRP v2

TAD Gear is top quality - I have a ranger hoodie, Stealth soft-shell, and predator hard-shell. All great products and I recommend them highly. I've worn the Ranger fleece with a base layer in -5F weather elk hunting and was completely comfortable, granted I was humping mountains. My Ranger fleece has some small burn holes from campfires, but it's going on 8 years and going strong.

Jason, I am 5'9" 175. The TAD large is too loose, the medium fits me good with enough room for minor layering. It is an athletic fit so order the next size up if you have a gut.

So long as most of that 165lbs isn't resting right above your belt you'd be a medium with room to spare.

Yes. Great product. For a good review on the subject clothing go to militarymorons.com

My only complaint was the pull tabs on the zippers were sown pieces of ribbon which are hard to find/grip with gloves on. I removed them all and replaced them with something similar to this...
