Tannerite targets

Re: Tannerite targets

Right, like you can buy AN anymore. It was yanked years ago after Oklahoma City, courtesy of Tim Mcveigh.
On a creepy conspiracy theory note, I've wondered if the whole thing wasn't a setup to deprive an oppressed population of a means of rebellion.

Re: Tannerite targets

you can't buy AN at the feed stores, and most of the fert dealers droped it because they have to be cert hazmat to transport. If you have potato growers around you you'll find AN there about the only ones left that use straight AN anymore.

Re: Tannerite targets

Fun stuff to play with!
Take a bowling ball and fill the thumb hole.
Cut shoot and see to cover. You will see!
Would not recomend 50 yards, even for that little bit.
Parts will fly that far!
Hanging in a tree, in a holler works good too.
So I hear.

Re: Tannerite targets

Heard it from a friend, who heard it from a friend that you shouldn't shoot tannerite targets in dry grassy fields...

Re: Tannerite targets

Here is the recipe to make your own Exploding targets just like tannerite:

You're going to need:

blender that you will never put food in

Grams scale that goes up to 5lb

You will also need a bag of Ammonium Nitrate 34-0-0 Only ammonium nitrate will work and no other will suffice. Dont be surprised if you can only find 50 pound bags...its all good.

Second thing you need is Aluminum Powder. German Dark ultra fine dust. Ultra fine less than 2 micron particle size. Check EBay for the best deals on aluminum powder just keep your eyes on the partical size.

First you're going to need to crush the ammonium nitrate to dust. Put a scoop into your blender and blast it for about one minute. The idea is to get it all dust.

Ammonium Nitrate in dust form will absorb water from the air. After you grind it up put it in an airtight container, pop bottle, paint can, anything that's going to hold the moisture out.

The mixing rate is 95% ammonium to 5% Aluminum by weight. So for 200 grams AN you need 10 grams AP. This is why you need that nifty scale. Its also not legal to mix the binary and then transport it. You must mix and use it on site.

So, does that mixture explode on impact? Velocity needed? </div></div>
Anything above a .22 rimfire will set it off, .223 works well and the bigger the better.

Re: Tannerite targets

FYI: You can get Ammonium Nitrate in small amounts from cold packs. The cold pack contains AN, in granular form, and a packet of water. It says right on the back of the package that it contains AN and water, nothing else. Not sure if it's enough for what you need, but it's an easy way to get it.

I'm a Narcotics Officer so I see this shit all the time because people use the cold packs to make Methamphetamine.

Just thought you might like to know...ANDY

Target audience commonality for ellicit activities I suspect. The Tannerite isn't very well known outside of our community yet. I would not be surprised that within 5 years it's going to get exponentially harder to get though.

Re: Tannerite targets

I could just see someone trying to get AN from the cold packs and getting busted for cursor materials. Or have the AN and the AP in different contantors and getting pulled over and then before he know what was happening his the next bomber on the news.

Re: Tannerite targets

Well tannerite may not be well known outside our community right now but thanks to youtube and a fool that set off about 10 lbs of tannerite straped to a drum of fuel oil (which is a crime)The powers that be are being brought up to speed damn quick!!Oh and the fool was close enough to a nuke plant to set off alarms with the blast!!If you need some tannerite stock up now as I belive it won't be long before it is outlawed .Kinda can't blame the goverment if they do. These youboob videos are training any would be homegrown terroist how to bend the law to Blow up shit on a budget. W.T.F. are people thinking posting this shit!! Why not hand the anti freedom assholes all the ammo they need to protect us from ourselves. I see some of the shit these dorks do on the tube and I want to take their shit away for being stupid!!Some things just need not to be made public.

Scot, while the approach I can't help but thinking you turned everyone off as soon as you replied the way you did, I do agree with you.

Youtube attracts enough attention to all manner of people and groups that the LAST thing we need is to show illegal acts or things that are just flat out foolish and air them on the internet.

The gas/tannerite video owner would be smart to remove it asap for legal reasons.

Correct, but strapping it to 4 gallons of gas and then setting it off is not.

I think there is some limit on number of pounds you can have in your possession, but it was alot if I remember correctly.

Also being what it is and the price that it is...people can find alot cheaper and easier ways to make things go boom.

You might exercise caution keeping that attitude when it comes to subjects of this nature. Explaining "I didn't know because nobody ever showed me it in writing" is not exactly a sure-fire way to get the ATFE off your back.

When I called and asked last year the agent called back with something on 18 USC 841 for storage and then gave me directions to this link and said when you tie a can of gas or fuel oil to it, it's a controlled explosive because the oxidizer is 85% AN and you have a petroleum liquid there.

http://www.atf.gov/publications/newsletters/fel/fel-newsletter-2004-06.pdf

Page 6 and 7

It's now considered an ANFO explosive.

Re: Tannerite targets

I do the same exact thing that 427Cobra does except I don't crush or grind the AN. It has always gone boom and makes preparation easier. I have never been able to find the AN in anything less than 50lb bags.

I buy the AL on Ebay for around $20 a pound shipped and the AN locally for <$20 for 50 pounds. If you look for fertilizer that is 34-0-0 that is the stuff you want because the AN isn't mixed with anything else. Any fertilizer that is mixed will not work.

I have used zip lock bags as a container for shooting it. Although it does go boom it doesn't have the same thump as when it is in a soda bottle or something a little more sturdy.

An also works great on your yard. I use it every year to get things going. Even if you just shoot it the area around where you shoot it the grass will grow faster there. It makes it grow in nice and thick but you will have to cut the yard a few times a week for the first month or so after spreading it

On another note, for smoke you can mix stump remover, available at any home imporvement store, with sugar. It creates a pretty thick cloud of smoke that isn't toxic. Some say you need to cook it down but I just mix it up and set it on fire. Crushing the stump remover helps it burn more completely but it still burns without crushing it up.

Re: Tannerite targets

bohem,Thank you for your reply. Perhaps my approach was a bit strong.I found when dealing with the uninformed know it all types that have not a clue to real world issues. It is some times best to get their attention. In law enforcement it is best known as a "pay attention slap" Our lifestyle is directly affected by those among us .If they act a fool it is our job to show them the error of their ways.I like to have my freedom .It was came at a bloody price. SO when some fool endangers that freedom by giving the Anti's ammo that will infringe on my freedom I get Mad as everyone in our lifestyle should also do .The next youtube you see will be some fool blowing up game animals out of season with tannerite tied to homemade napom. Won't that be grand. My point was to use you head and stop giving the other side ammo.

Unfortunately if they have ammo then you may not. I may not be as paranoid as some folks when it comes to our rights infringment, but I do recognize it as a real threat. Its one thing when a specific group tags a weapon/accessory/ammo..ect as a threat with no provication, simply because they feel the masses dont need it usually means the will not get to far. But when an idiot, moron, retard, amature, __________ (insert accurate description)...decides to use it in a dangerous, threatening, or outright illegal manner then you just gave the ANTI-whatever group solid facts and evidence to take to the legislature and have it banned, or heavily restricted.

Your comments gleam with ignorance, which is a show of either your age or a lack of maturity. Wont matter if you have more ammo than the next guy if you dont have a gun to put it in.
