so i placed an order for a 338 ultra today and got a 4-6 month wait for it to be built and assigned a serial number, 7-23 to 8-20, is that just because they arent running full speed cause of shot show being last week or is this an actually real expectation? at that rate it will be next summer before i get the can.

Not sure how SH is going to know this better than us; you can always give me a call.

We are producing silencers at a rate higher than we ever have, other than the temporary, crazy pre-41F push in 2016, and we are doing everything we can to get back to and exceed that rate. We had a consistent 6-8 week backlog for most of 2018 and then demand spiked starting in Q4'18 for some reason. The reason there is a 7 month backlog right now is because there is 7 months-worth of production for orders people put in before "yours."

I just wrote a post about this on our web site,
https://thunderbeastarms.com/news/looking-for-a-tbac-silencer/

Here at THUNDER BEAST ARMS CORP, we’re dedicated to building the best precision rifle suppressors on the planet. There are cheaper ways to build suppressors. If what you want is a suppressor whose primary design goals were “quick and inexpensive to manufacture”, then those other suppressors might be a good choice. We set out to build the best, and there are no shortcuts. It takes a dedicated manufacturing team, a lot of expertise, and state of the art CNC machinery to build suppressors like our ULTRA series.

Our manufacturing plant in Cheyenne, WY has batches of all of our suppressor models in-flight in at any given time, and we finish and ship suppressors out on a daily basis.

Right now, due to extraordinary demand in Q4’18 and at SHOT Show earlier in January, we have a pretty long manufacturing backlog. The bad news is that, as of today, “newly submitted” orders have roughly 6-8 months of suppressor orders before them in the build queue.

The good news that our distribution and dealer network has at least some suppressors in stock, and we are shipping orders out all the time to fulfill the orders submitted a little while ago. For example, even with the month of so of Government Shutdown (during which no Form 2’s or 3’s were processed), we are currently shipping orders that were submitted in late November to early December. As a result, our dealer network will get regular shipments of TBAC suppressors, depending on what orders they’ve submitted.

Looking for a particular silencer? We have an online TBAC ONLINE AVAILABILITY TOOL. Besides having general information about how orders are processed and our current stock levels, it also gives a list of dealers who have recently been shipped TBAC suppressors. It also gives a list of dealers who will be receiving TBAC suppressors in the next approx 4-6 weeks (ATF permitting). Furthermore, you can select a silencer model, such as .30 CAL ULTRA 7, and get a list of dealers who have just received, or are about to receive, that model suppressor.

The Availability tool is here
https://thunderbeastarms.com/availability
It also has a lot of discussion about how we do production and fulfill orders and why there is a longer backlog after SHOT Show.

i figured one of you guys would respond, i saw where it was based on output currently and wondered if it was because guys were still getting stuff back from shot show, im fine with the wait, sucks i had to wait to put this order in. oh well, ill forget about it for now

Hi, no, we don't stop our production floor for anything! It's just the office gets backed up a little bit during SHOT so it takes a few days to catch up on entering orders and following up on emails.

BTW, we are hiring entry-level CNC operators and we train, if you know anyone looking for a job, LOL.

I may be interested, I'm graduating from UW with an engineering degree soon. Not sure how to PM you though.

@Zak Smith Sorry to kinda derail the thread, I have some what relevant question. Does the gov shutdown effect your production? I understand that you can't get form 3's approved and transfer them to dealers, but you can still manufacture full throttle, correct? Then start form 3's and transfer once they are back processing again?

It holds us up both filing Form 3's because Form 2's were not being returned, and it holds up the Form 3's being returned. We continue manufacturing regardless; we just can't file any forms or ship anything.

Grrrr....I need to get 6.5 Ultra 9 in the pipeline for a build I have going now. I missed the last batch on Silencershop because I was overseas working and they sold out while I was asleep.

Stupid government. Lol.
