Rifle Scopes Tenebraex covers (clear, opaque, polarized, ARD...)

I'm looking at getting some Tenebraex covers for a new scope that I'm expecting, and I'm finding more options that I expected. I'm interested to hear comments on experience with the clear or amber or polarized or opaque covers. I don't think I need polarized; it seem like that's sort of specific to looking through glass or getting rid of glare like a police or military application might be interested in. But I could be missing some key aspect of the polarized cover that would make my life complete if only I had it. I expect that within the SH community there are people of much greater experience and knowledge, probably better looking, with big muscles and fancy cars and beautiful girlfriends that could offer some advice. I'm thinking the regular black one's are going to work just fine. What do you think?

I bought a set for my S&B, I like my defender covers that came with my AMG better. They are not see through though if thats something you had to have. The defender caps aren't as wide as the others and the rubber glove type setup on the defender caps protect the scope better than the others.

I'd suggest giving it a bit more time for responses, you'll see more in a bit. I have Tenabraex covers that came with my Minox ZP5 and I really like them. For the ultimate in brick shithouse caps, check out Aadmounts. Neither of them are see through, but if you don't need that, both caps are great.

I bought a set of Aadmount caps. I didn't like how stiff they are. I got a set of Tenebraex caps with my Nightforce Beast, and I'm really happy with them except that they rotate with the ocular housing. That's a nightforce thing though, so I can't really hold the caps responsible for that. I'm going to use the new covers on a Kahles k624i that should get here next week. I just happened to notice while looking at the options that they have amber colored transparent covers and such. I'm just curious about them...

Understood about the Aadmount stiffness. I'm old school (and colorblind), so being able to look through the caps (of any color) doesn't really hold any attraction for me. I can say the Tenabraex aren't as rugged as the Aadmounts. In my opinion, the only downside to the Aadmounts is the "mottled/stippled" (not really sure what to call it) finish. I think Mr. Aadland should have just left them smooth (like everyone else).

Tenebraex are my favorite period. The ability to turn them is a big bonus.

Clear on the rear cap with a illuminated reticle allows you to shoot with the caps on, with both eyes open. Can be useful in some situations.

I like the Tenebraex covers pretty well. I don't use transparent covers of any kind. It doesn't make sense to spend ridiculous amounts of money on the best glass you can afford, only to degrade it with a plastic lense on each end. You might as well pay $3000.00 for a Tasco. I've spent a large part of the last 32 years behind a scoped rifle, in the military, in law enforcement, and as a hunter, and I've never missed a shot that I could have made, if only I hadn't had to take the time to flip up a scope cover. I also want a solid cover to prevent sunlight from directly entering the scope, when it's not in use. Ever burn stuff with a magnifying glass when you were a kid? That's not what I want happening inside my expensive optics.

That's a fair point. I don't think there's a compelling reason to have the clear covers. I appreciate the input from the snipers hide community. Thanks everybody!

Never had a need to use see through caps. Like others here, a practice flick of the ocular and object ends and you are good to go. I paid for good glass for a reason. My 2 cents worth. Btw way I'm not good looking, spaghetti for arms and drive and old truck.

I agree with others, using clear lens covers on a high dollar scope with the best glass is like some people I know that just had to have a certain color iphone only to put it in a case where you can't see the damn color of the phone anyway......lol I really like the Tenebraex covers that came with my NF BEAST and my NF ATACR I love the fact that you can turn them to whatever position you want.

I've had BCs, Vortex Defenders, and Tenabraex. I'll be buying more tenabraex caps.
