Re: TerryCross/JimClarkMatchDec 5/6LongRangeAlley

Everyone competing in this event please note:

1: There will be no wind flags up on match day.

2: We suggest keeping your load out lean.
There may be a fair amount of movement on foot between events and possibly during an event.

3: There will be a MANDATORY shooters meeting Saturday morning at 08:00.
Location will be the classroom at the pro shop.
Be sure to bring something to write with as it may be prudent to take notes
on a couple of things (shooter #, Squad#, etc.).

4: ONLY the active competitors will be allowed into the meeting with the range cadre.
The meeting room will be very, very crowded just with the 50 competitors and workers.

5: Back up plan will having the shooters meeting in front of the pro shop.

6: I would encourage each competitor to reivew and/or print out the following and familiarize
themselves with the general layout of the complex. This will help lower any anxiety about
where, what, when after instructions are given for each squad to move.

Map and general range layout

Best way to communicate this info is to PM Casey. That way he can update the shooter roster in a timely manner without having to weed through all the ass slapping posts in this thread.

Thanks much,

Re: TerryCross/JimClarkMatchDec 5/6LongRangeAlley

Question on range movement if it can be answered at this time.

Are we all hoofing it from place to place on the range or will driving be allowed/ viable option?

Obviously I don't have a clue what parts of the range are being used... I'm just thinking about a "Death March" from the office to the assault deck (insert smiley here I am on my blackberry)

Thanks

Re: TerryCross/JimClarkMatchDec 5/6LongRangeAlley

At this time, it is looking like all movement will be on foot due to heavy rains and limited hard surface for parking at the KD range.

Plenty of good surface at the bays but they are reasonably close to the pro shop. We will decide this week if limited vehicle use will be acceptable.

Worst walk would be from the pro shop to the KD range and even that is not any further than the hike from Rifles Only bunk house to their tower.

Like I said above, keep your kit lean. I wouldn't be bringing your 18" Bowie knife, 200ft of repel rope or your IPSC 38super with 8 magazines. Not saying you can't. Just sayin you may want to think about how you are going to feel toward the end of the day.

Re: TerryCross/JimClarkMatchDec 5/6LongRangeAlley

As I mentioned in an earlier post, brake users please <span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">PM or email Casey </span></span>if you haven't already.

Please don't worry about posting that info here as 90% of the time, nobody knows how do decipher your screen name into the real thing.

If you are not going to use a brake, no action needed on your part.

Re: TerryCross/JimClarkMatchDec 5/6LongRangeAlley

I went ahead and took a day of vacation on Friday, so it looks like I'll drive in early and get to confirm my 1000yd dope. Just talked to Ron to make sure I'll be able to. Is anyone else going to try and shoot on Friday? Also, who else is camping out for the weekend?

Re: TerryCross/JimClarkMatchDec 5/6LongRangeAlley

We will be working at the LRA Ranges Thursday and Friday. Access to the ranges will be restricted those days.

NOTE: There will be a dedicated 100yd bay available starting at first light Saturday morning. Dots will be up and ready if you feel the need to check your equipment after flying or driving in.
You MUST be at the shooters meeting at 08:00. So if you want check your 100yd zero, it is on you to get it squared away and be at the pro shop for the meeting.

NOTE: For those that may want to get in Thurs or Friday and want to check zeros or shoot at extended ranges, I believe some of the locals are going to play at some alternative range sites. Maybe check with William Roscoe or others from north LA. for possible hookups. I am not from that area so can't offer any info for places to shoot.

No wind,
Terry

Re: TerryCross/JimClarkMatchDec 5/6LongRangeAlley

Hey guys, I've been thinking. The range may be closed Friday due to setting up the match. Some of the local shooters are members of LRA and have had access to it all year and up until now. Some of you are driving in from out of state and may not have had an opportunity to shoot prior to the match this weekend. I have access to another range that will allow you to shoot from 100 yards to 420 yards. I know it's not a 1000 yards but it'll give you a chance to shoot a little, re-confirm zeros and get hard data to 420 yards. The range is about 45 minutes east of LRA in Haughton, I-20 almost all the way.

If you'd like to check your rifles zero when you get here on Friday give me a call. The offer stands to anyone driving in for the match. I can even print a ballistics table out for you if you need it.

Re: TerryCross/JimClarkMatchDec 5/6LongRangeAlley

We do not have any scheduled "lunch breaks". Due to the short days we will try to get everyone moved through as many events as possible. In spite of our best hustle, you will still have some times to stuff something down your pie holes so bring drinks, snacks, sandwiches, etc. We may not have enough time for you to leave the range complex but especially on some of the events that are one shooter at a time, you will have a minute to refresh.

Re: TerryCross/JimClarkMatchDec 5/6LongRangeAlley

Gentlemen: Range Closed on Friday -- Just to be clear.

Sorry about the confusion.
Check with me rather than checking with the Pro Shop manager. He ain't really part of the match.
So rely on the information posted here, lest you get bad information to your detrimant.

Read my posts. Read Terry's posts. That's the reliable information.

Re: TerryCross/JimClarkMatchDec 5/6LongRangeAlley

Do you know what time it will wrap up Sunday? I have to pick up my son half way to Houston then back up to an hour north of Dallas. Just trying to get a feel so I can tell his mother something.
Thanks.

Re: TerryCross/JimClarkMatchDec 5/6LongRangeAlley

Gentlemen, y'all are wearing me out. I gotta work. Read the original post for information. I believe it is all accurate, as well as any post by Terry Cross. Rely on them and mine. Okay?

Peace.

Re: TerryCross/JimClarkMatchDec 5/6LongRangeAlley

I apologize for not having any hard finish time slated.

This is a 2 day event and a lot of people are traveling a long way to shoot. We want to stuff as many events into the weekend as we safely can. Things like weather, target issues, Jim flippin out, etc. can impact what we believe we can do. By Sunday morning, I hope to give you a clue as to finish but some are saying they want to shoot as much as possible.

We will try to keep it reasonable, I promise.

TC

They're giving everything to me, whether or not I finish last. You're SOL, as the match is 'fixed' and the bribes already paid.

Re: TerryCross/JimClarkMatchDec 5/6LongRangeAlley

Sounds like a really nice array of prizes.

Hogstooth and I are heading out this evening. See you guys this weekend. Should be a great time...

Re: TerryCross/JimClarkMatchDec 5/6LongRangeAlley

Gentlemen,

Four shooters are unable to shoot the match

Thus, as you can see, if you're thinking of shooting, get on the standby list. The standby list is either exhausted or close, due to these recent developments.

Call in to me 318-572-0559, or Ron 318-872-0111.

Don't be "sceared". Its all for fun anyway (lol).

Re: TerryCross/JimClarkMatchDec 5/6LongRangeAlley

Gentlemen:

Terry is in his car on the road and ask me to post this:

"Vehicle transportation will be allowed on and about the range during the match.

At the Known Distance Range (1k area) park off the road at the 600 yd berm, which will be flagged. Drive only on firm ground ( like the road ). Sticking your truck will be inconvenient for your shooting pleasure cause we ain't taking out time to unbog it.
Look forward to having a lot of fun.

Last, shooting will be allowed at the 100yd bay near the outhouse at sunrise. Look for the big Vietnam Vet Army Ranger "Richard"."
-Terry.

Timely attendance of the safety briefing at 8:00 at he Pro Shop is mandatory with no exceptions.
