Took the new 338lm out for some 2k testing today as well as try my new flatline load. Kestrel said 15.7 mil and it was spot on at 2054yrds. Only hit 6 out of 15 but I forgot my bipod, bubble level and wind flags. Ill retest this weekend with some 1x fired brass and hopefully do better.

Fursiper, I have shot the 285 amax and 300 scenar, My last rifle shot them both well but I think the amax did better at 2500yards. Someone I shoot with used pointed 300g bergers and they were 1.5mils flatter than the amax at 2054yrds.
Vh20, the rifle is zeroed at 100yrds, I am pushing the 256flatline at 3130fps in new brass

That is an impressive velocity on those! I'd like to get a report in the future on how your brass is holding up!

Did you use Litz Custom Curves or the advertised G7?

Hell, I'm 14.1 MILs to 1764 yards (to be exact) with a 375CT! (2400 DA). Granted, 96 additional grants of bullet weight.

I do want to try some of the 361's in the 375CT though after I finish tweaking these 352 CE MTAC's. .89 vs .98 G1 - oh yeah.

Thanks Mamba, impressive results. Care to share load data with the flatlines? I'm building a new 338 and considering the solids. If I can get on demand hits at 2k I think I'd be pretty happy. Oh, curious what your DA is? Thanks again, it sounds like you're going to have a blast shooting that new rig!

I too would like to see some load information. Also, how long is that barrel? I am considering giving these bullets a try in a factory AX barrel that is 27". I'm at sea level , so I doubt I can do 15.7 mils to 2000 yards, but this combo sound like it would blow the doors off my 300 Norma shooting 230s.

My load data is 98.7g h1000 in lapua cases, fed 215m , eyeballed to the driving band on the flatlines. I single feed these.
Normal elevation is 4k , Kestrel said the DA was 4950
My rifle has a 32" Bartlein barrell
Target is 24x30 mild 1/8" steel - I should have hung it horizontally and my hit ratio would have been a lot better!

My Amax data was 92.5 g1000 -2835fps out of a 28" barrel for a average of 21.7 mil at 2054yrds

Mr Fields,
Give the 198gr Flatline a try in your 300 Norma. That combo will dust the 230's. You will have no problems pushing them to 3200fps and they will run darn close to the 256gr Flatlines in 338. 3200fps and the 198gr Flatline at 5000ft D.A. will get to 2000 in 15mils. I'm using 0.420 G7 BC to get that number. I have had these bullets out to 1255 in a 308 and 0.410 G7 has been nuts on good. (I'm at 2750fps at the muzzle, so a lower BC than the Norma, which should start at 500fps faster).

In terms of the AB curves. My experience has been that they aren't as accurate as the numbers Warner provided. Sounds like Lowlight is talking about some new data there, so stand-by for that.

I must be loading mine too slow I guess. I'm pushing them in Lapua brass with 94.0 g H1000 at 2950 in a 26" Savage 110 FCP. Mine are also loaded long for single feed. I'm at 14.9 mils at 1760 and 18.7 mils at 2000. These things are awesome. Expensive, but awesome.

+1

I've shot the 198s on same range White Mamba is using with a 300WM out of a 32" 1:8 Bartlein. The come up from a 100 yard zero was 15.5 to 16.0 mils that day. The aggregate G7 trued to about .410. The load was a fairly aggressive charge of R26 that gave 3200 fps. With a 300 Norma, you could do it with H1000. My 230 Hybrid / H1000 load at 2910 fps needs 22.5 - 23.0 mils up there. It's a tamer load pressure wise.

White Mamba - How about a picture of the whole gun? Skeeter builds good looking rigs and they've done well at the URSA matches.

Also, it looks like you've figured out a way to increase the signature from the solids by making the target semi consumable. We've gone a similar way with 1/4" plain steel plates. Suspending them by bolts 1/3 the way from the top and sides counterweights the plate against itself and gives more motion. Hits and their locations are obvious without the use of lights or cameras but it still returns to center well. Is that plate suspended on bungis?

A SnipeTac goes through our plates at 1200 yards, but not at 1450.

I'll give the 198s a try before I spin the 300NM barrel off. One of my complaints with the 30 cals is the smaller impact signature. This is more apparent on misses than hits in my experience. I like the mass of the .338 for throwing up a plume of dirt. At 2000 yards, it is often hard to see misses, and that means a lot of wasted time and components.

The aggregate G7 trued to about .410.

I got a chuckle out of this one. 0.410 G7 from your 300WM at 2000yds tracks well with my 308 at 1255yds... you run the math on the average velocities your bullet is going vs mine launched at 2700yds and the average tracks very closely to each other. That is a good sign as the BC should therefore track the same. Oh well, I have more fun with the 308 :)
