Join the contestFursiper, I have shot the 285 amax and 300 scenar, My last rifle shot them both well but I think the amax did better at 2500yards. Someone I shoot with used pointed 300g bergers and they were 1.5mils flatter than the amax at 2054yrds.
Vh20, the rifle is zeroed at 100yrds, I am pushing the 256flatline at 3130fps in new brass
I too would like to see some load information. Also, how long is that barrel? I am considering giving these bullets a try in a factory AX barrel that is 27". I'm at sea level , so I doubt I can do 15.7 mils to 2000 yards, but this combo sound like it would blow the doors off my 300 Norma shooting 230s.
Mr Fields,
Give the 198gr Flatline a try in your 300 Norma. That combo will dust the 230's. You will have no problems pushing them to 3200fps and they will run darn close to the 256gr Flatlines in 338. 3200fps and the 198gr Flatline at 5000ft D.A. will get to 2000 in 15mils. I'm using 0.420 G7 BC to get that number. I have had these bullets out to 1255 in a 308 and 0.410 G7 has been nuts on good. (I'm at 2750fps at the muzzle, so a lower BC than the Norma, which should start at 500fps faster).
In terms of the AB curves. My experience has been that they aren't as accurate as the numbers Warner provided. Sounds like Lowlight is talking about some new data there, so stand-by for that.
The aggregate G7 trued to about .410.
