Texas 51% carry law unconstitutional?

Yep. New Okie here, sorta. I'll be staying in Okrahoma, the only state with ZERO blue counties in the last POTATUS election.
Yep, that's one reason I came. Folks are down to earth and welcoming. Unfortunately, if you look at a well detailed, colored, map, OKC and Norman are light purple. Just like all the urban and university cities in America.

Edit to ask: Did you mean Potato Election? We got a potato.

Nope...I meant POTATUS (as opposed to POTUS) to infer that the dipshit currently in the Executive Office is, indeed, a potato. No offense meant to potatoes.

It's the exact same logic behind Texas law restrictions on carry. Figured it applies to more folks here. Who the fuck lives in Jersey?

You should educate yourself on other states restrictions on concealed carry... The 51% rule in Texas is FAR FAR FAR from alone. Lots(most?) states have a restriction "similar" to the 51% rule.

Also in your OP you say there is "no historical basis" for the 51% law... I'm pretty sure in "the old west" a lot of bars restricted peoples ability to bring a gun in... so... there's that.

Of all things to say Texas is wrong about, I wouldnt say the 51% rule is one of them I would spend a lot of time on. While I may or may not agree with the 51% rule, I think you wont get to many people to support "I should be able to carry my gun while drinking in a bar"...

Hell I would rather see Texas get rid of all the dumb assed liquor laws, dry counties, Sunday blue law, no liquor at grocery stores, no liquor delivery, etc... laws and simply do a state pre-emption on it and let capitalism see what people want...

Interesting aside… Dry counties are vestiges left over from prohibition and have very little to do with puritanical belief. Rather, dry counties preserved the graft that was pervasive during prohibition. Cops, sheriffs, constables, county agents, and local judges protecting their illicit money streams- which would dry up if alcohol were legal…

Was the bar thing in the old west a law or just the private business saying no?

Lots of old west towns had “no carry within city limits” ordnances. But, you could check your gun at the saloon. Pick it up on the way out of town.

The Wild West was really a lot more tame than portrayed by “dime novels.”
