Just like life in the dark ages, it’s short and brutal. 7.5” barrel 6.8 SPC Noveske Diplomat.

New video is up comparing a piston rifle vs. a DI rifle to see if there's any noticeable volume or sound differences.
That was the DI gun being louder (port pop), causing the audio to clip. At the shooter’s ear, the LWRC (piston) is quieter, as the piston vents up near the gas block, not directly at your right ear, like the DI gun.Interesting. It seems the piston was more consistent over the five shots and the DI was louder for the first 2 then was noticeably quieter than the piston for the remaining 3.
Did you observe this from the shooter’s perspective?
Do you see many people running .308 AR's for Service Rifle? My ARs:
CMP/NRA legal for service rifle competition, 20 inch barrel, 1-4.5X March scope. Behind it is an 18 inch SPR with AEM5 suppressor. A couple of AR10s, barrels harvested from take off FTR Krieger barrels.

Mainly in the 1000 yard matches. Former teammate of mine, Keith, was recruited by the US Army Reserve Rifle Team after he won the P100 in 2016. He shot his AR10 at the 1st 1000 yard match at the NRA National at Atterbury in 2018, he did quite well considering the AR10 service rifle is handicapped at 20 inches and 4.5X scope and shooting against the best prone shooters in the country.Do you see many people running .308 AR's for Service Rifle?

Honestly I like the Mk18 Mod0 over the Mod1. Do you know which weighs more - Mod0 vs Mod1? Not counting optics/lasers/lights..?
Very nice MP5 as well.. I literally have had dreams of owning a Dakota MP5/10mm LOLCouldn’t agree more. I would be shocked if the mod1 wasn’t quite a bit heavier. The RISII is a fantastic rail but it’s definitely not a lightweight.

Do you know which one is heavier/thicker? They seem pretty close to each other..? Ie basically same weight as gov profile but in a much better thought out contour. The Criterion CORE barrels - like the Noveske N4 barrels - will shoot sub-MOA all day long with match grade ammo. Even the Noveske N4 14.5" "skinny" profile!
The Criterion CORE barrels have much smaller gas ports than the Noveske N4 barrels of the same length. This would make the CORE barrels much more agreeable shooting suppressed with a fixed gas block.
I am not willing to spend the $$$ required on ammo to do any extensive destructive testing. My guess is the more expensive Noveske N4 barrel, being hammer forged and double chrome lined, would be the winner. Of course, the N4 barrel costs 77% more.
Another Lightweight Recce built up with V7 magic and a Proof 16" .223 Wylde barrel. Other components enhancing the DNA include: TriggerTech Adaptable trigger - set really, really light; JP Enhanced Bolt riding in a Young Mfg. N/M bolt carrier (discontinued), all DLC coated; Newest BCM recoil system - patented; SLR adjustable gas block; SF WarComp; MFT stock; Magpul Pmag; Nightforce ATACR 1-8x24 F1 in Spuhr mount; big, ugly Magpul K2 - size XL - better suited for a bolt gun chassis than an AR'. My guess is the new owner will ask me to swap it out once he realizes it's just not right. And I will, gladly. The gun shot sub-MOA for five at 200 on the very first try with the customer's Berger 73 Match load. Zero stop set.
Do you have a pic of the barrel outside/without the handguard. The last AR' blaster you'll ever need - Just over 6 pounds, hard use capable, precision capable, and easy on the eyes. The foundation is the superb SanTan Tactical STT-15 billet ambi receiver set. The key component is a hard-to-get Noveske 14.5" hammer forged, chrome lined, Afghan barrel with mid-length gas system, capable of sub-MOA performance with match grade ammo, yet capable of handling a training schedule that would simply eat up conventional barrels. A Surefire WarComp pinned and welded to the muzzle gives us a 16+" barrel overall length. Barrel feed ramps contoured and polished in the fashion that has worked so well for MSTN over the last 20 years. The moving parts: New, patented BCM MK2 Recoil Mitigation System - Mod 1 - T1, the successor to the Vltor A5 recoil system; JP Full Mass Operating System bolt carrier group with JP Enhanced DLC coated bolt fitted at the optimum 1.4666"; TriggerTech Competition Trigger breaking at an ultra-crisp 3.5 LB on V7 titanium fire control pins; Geissele Airborne Charging Handle; DHD ambi short throw safery selector. Parts that don't move by Dark Hour Defense, V7, and Fortis. Plastic by Magpul.
