Tried my commando upper in precision mode tonight:

Took some effort, but well worth it. The blast, flash and noise were enough shock & awe to disrupt the others' training.

British SAS upper receiver group on a standard Canadian Forces (less the FA) ambi lower. Manufactured by Colt Canada (formerly Diemaco), who have only fairly recently started selling to the public.

This is straight out of the box. Made a number of changes and managed to ding the finish already. Sigh. I guess that means that I can go ahead and cover her with Aervoe, right?

Whats the barrel contour like on these?

Quite heavy. Can't really get in there to measure (barrel removal requires a special tool due to the monolithic upper) but I would guess the profile is the better part of an inch down to the gas block and then probably about .750 to the muzzle threads. The barrel is treated with some form of corrosion protection since it's pretty much impossible to get in there.

The upper is noticeably heavy for the length.

Getting about 1.5-2 MOA with some ammo and 3-4 MOA with others. Don't know what the Brits use, presumably SS109/M855.

I also have an old Aimpoint Comp C on a Larue LT150 and a Larue LT103 rear sight. Don't use them due to astigmatism. For me a LPVO with a true 1X is the answer.

Put the new 5-25x50 Vudu on my .223 precision carbine I built. Really like it so far, it seems to be on par with the T5Xi 3-15 I replaced with it.

Heres 3 groups I threw down quick just to double check my zero. I was using Black Hills remanufactured 69 SMK ammo. I’m far out of practice, and this is a difficult rifle to shoot precisely (light, and it’s thin but tall, so small inputs cause large movements), but still got sub moa out of it. I adjusted the zero after the second group, which is why you see a shift.

Here’s my shtf rifle, first build. Spikes lower with aero upper. Faxon gunner 16” mid length barrel, brownells tini bcg, compass lake nm free float tube custom mid length, repro 3 prong flash hider, brownells a1 retro buttstock, have an alg act trigger just need to slap it on and cheapo Bushnell red dot while I’m waiting for compass lake national match carry handle sight. Might mount a laser on the bayonet lug later. Picture of my mosin just because.

Here's my battery of FDE AR rifles. All are LWRC Gas Piston 5.56s' except the rifle with the MRO Patrol, which is a dedicated AR-22 using a 16.1" .22LR Tactical Solutions barrel (1:16 RH Twist Rock Creek) and 416 Stainless BCG mated to the Upper and Lower Receivers of an FDE LWRC M6IC-A2. All (including the AR-22), have Geissele SSA-E Triggers, FDE Troy BUIS Front & Rear, FDE (Magpul) Gen 1.0 MIAD grips with the F4 Integrated Enhanced Trigger Guard, Tubb Chrome Silicon Flatwire Springs behind LWRC H2 Buffers, and sit on Harris BRM-S bipods with direct-mount, ADM AD-BP-P2 Mounts. Obviously, the AR-22 doesn't need a Buffer or Spring, but I like consistency of parts. Front-to-Rear, the rifles are:

Thought about getting one of PSA’s 10.5 kits and similar outfit it + light. Haven’t heard much on their pistol kits, though their 16” middy kit has been reliable for me (1,000 round test, 1% failure rate, had to clean at 600, cleaned trigger group at 800, this shot with generic 55 grain FMJ, USA made brass case)

Would you in your time with the 10.5” kit consider it enough for HD duty? Would you bet your life on it? Am considering it versus the much more expensive BCM uppers.

Note: It would not be a “training” carbine that saw thousands of rounds per year, more like 1- 2k per year if that for familiarization.

Was gonna be a USMC issue type rifle but the rail didn't fit the barrel so I FF'd it. Just a well built 20" rifle, actually made mostly from spare parts. Tenebraex noticed the eyepiece cap was the wrong on and sent me a new one, so that's a bit different.

I have never had or wanted a FDE long gun but just decided I would build a BOLT GUN project as FDE but thought I'd not do it with my next AR project. Your pic pushed be over the edge however and I think I will probably will.

Is yours Cerakoted (or another finish)? Is it Magpul FDE?

I’ve seen PSA throw up those Sig red dots for stupid cheap. How do you like them (obviously besides having three). How do you personally compare them to an Aimpoint?

I can afford a Sig, can’t currently afford an Aimpoint, so I am running irons now.
