Have you looked at the Bushnell FFP scopes? I got one on clearance and am buying another. They are very nice for the money.

I feel ya on the pricing issue but as I'm sure you've heard a million times already, you get what you pay for.
You will find that if you become more involved in the sections of this forum that you find interest in, you can accumulate 100 posts fairly quickly. Keep in mind, however, that "lol" and "+1" doesn't count an 'official' post.

I had the valdada you mentioned and loved it. Sold it only because I have two and needed the money to fund new build. I never had any issues at all with it.

If you are going IOR, I would strongly suggest the 3-18x50.
It is an all around better product than the 42.

The 50 is better in that it has:
Longer eye relief
Larger FOV
More aft tube real estate for mounting considerations
Very nice digital illumination.
It is, however, heavier than the 42 if that will play a part in your decision.
I have owned 3 of the 42's and currently have a 50, FWIW.

3-18x50mm FFP model and get it from liberty optics. I have a 42mm and the 50mm fixes everything that is wrong about the 42mm design namely eye relief, mounting and lack of illumination.
Another option would be a used vortex razor.

What kind of shooting are you looking to do, now and down the road?
If you are new to the practical precision game the best bet is to get a decent scope with a solid history of reliability and accurate tracking.
I feel this is more important than matching adjustments. Actually, old school mil/moa ingrains the relationships of the two into your conscience.
After 1000-2000 rounds are sent downrange your concept of what you want and need will be more driven by what you want and need for your actual shooting than what the peanut gallery tells you.
If you can swing the IOR 3-18 (esp a SH edition-it has the best reticle) that would be a great way to go.

And yet another would be to keep one's eye on the SWFA Sample List. I've seen (and got) USO SN3's for what used Razors are going for.

my buddie's 3-18x42 has failed on him last weekend, for the 2nd time.
On the positive note, IOR addressed the first time fast and this time offered to upgrade to the FFP/Mil/Mil 3-18x50 for 300 bucks
I told him to jump on it..

Sounds like some of you use IORs so wanted to ask: Have any of you had the to adjust the parallax after each shot? I have a 5-24x50; acts like it tracks right and adjustments are really positive (no slack) and all but I have to adjust the focus after each shot for the first 6 to 8 rounds. Then acts like it settles in. Has done this twice now.

I have not had that issue with the 3-18x50.

I have not had that issue with the 3-18x50.

I have 2 of the 3-18x42 and I would recommend looking at the 3.5-18x50 also as the eye relief is a bit fussy in my opinion also. I have had zero issues out of either of mine, they have been great.

Is there any rush? It may be more prudent to save up and get that nice optic that you've always desired to put it on the right stick. what functions are you using the scope for?
