Has such a "transparent" excuse ever worked for you?

What sort of psychosis would have a whole group of educated people accepting it?

    Uncle Sam's ass is bleeding.

If the IRS actually expects congress to accept their excuse that a computer glitch deleted everything, they are setting an extremely dangerous precedent that could be used against them in court in the future. If it works for them, then a taxpayer could reasonably use a similar excuse in court.

Dare YOU, a mere serf, to try it.

I'll screw around with all sorts of "official" agencies, but the IRS, and BATFE are most certainly NOT on the list of agencies I'll mess with. Regardless of whether their actions are right or wrong (when dealing with me), both agencies have sufficient ability to make my life miserable that it isn't worth poking them up....

Sort of akin to wearing a speedo and hitting a basketball sized hornet's nest with a baseball bat. I just can't imagine it turning out well.

However, of someone is already embroiled in a court case with the IRS, using their own logic against them would sure be worth a try.

I'm no different than you. It sucks it's at this point being concerned what the machine can do to me. I had read about it, thought it something to guard against, just naively never thought it would be a reality.

This is a challenge. I wonder what the response will be. Seems anyone that knows anything about servers, and I don't, has come to the realization that such a blatant falsehood could only mean some sort of admission their is something to hide.

I have heard from forensic computer people that nothing is truly erased from computers without a great deal of deliberate effort...and even then, most of it can be recovered. From that, I think that if the FBI, or NSA were charged by congress to recover the data, there are a couple of possibilities:

    1. They recover all the data, along with the link to whoever tried to delete the info.
    2. The info is truly gone, in which case, it will become obvious that it wasn't a simple computer error, but rather, it was a deliberate and skilled scheme to hide information from congress....and probably the link to whoever deleted the info.

In either of the above possibilities, the info will be most interesting. The big problem though is that regardless of what is revealed, voters have a very short memory, and they are, of late, mostly idiots. Remember, they re-elected someone who lied, failed to follow through on his campaign promises, and was one of the worst presidents on record. And all the fiasco's of the Clinton era have been largely forgotten, now Ms. Clinton is the likely nominee for the democratic presidential race.

In short, I don't think anything will come of it....unfortunately.

This is such a blatant sham on the IRS's part. I was discussing this last night with my son who is an IT network engineer and my next door neighbor who has a PhD in computer science and is chief network architect for Savis Federal Computer systems and they both said there is no way these e-mails don't exist somewhere on a back-up server (likely multiple ones) according to my neighbor, or somewhere in a cloud. This is just more lies coming to us from the organized crime syndicate that is our current government.

The two pictures in the dictionary next to the word "contempt".
