The Fix from Q

I got shipping labels emailed to me today to adress the heavy bolt lift on the rifles that my buddy and i own. the last time i spoke to a representative they wanted me and my buddy to send both of our guns in today to test fire them. that was the last word i received in my email today from Q. they did say they would hook me and my buddy up with some swag for the inconvenience. Q is doing everything they can to make things right and are helping make the process as fast as possible to get our guns back out to the range. gives me some time to shop around for a dedicated optic for my rifle.

22" 224V, 8" 300blk

After that, probably 16" .223, not sure if 224V will nullify 6.5G, but if not it will likely follow .223

Weight is likely 5-6.5lbs

WOW!!!!

Thank you for the response. Just saw the 300 BLK mini fix on IG -

Can't wait. Need to get another side job to save up some money.

As a guys who is predominantly a hunter. I think your rifle is awesome.

Thank you for taking the time to respond

I live in California, so I can only have the 8" Blackout if you saw the stock off and sell it as a pistol. However, 224V or 6.5Grendel would definitely get me to open my wallet.

Any chance I can get you to make me a 458SOCOM barrel for the regular Fix so that I can feed it long 582gr VLD bullets?

He listed some of the folks that have the extension on the previous page, i think, so maybe they can hook you up on a barrel.

Kevin, if you're still following this thread, please stick with Q-Sert instead of M-lok. I like M-lok, and use it on all my AR's, but Q-Sert is easier to use (small difference), lighter, stronger - in really good ways when it comes to bipod loading and such, as well as being backwards compatible with The Fix. I guess it doesn't really matter much but I lie the Q-Sert quite a bit so far.

Not sure why the .224V would nullify the 6.5 Grendel. Looks like the rifle was designed with a 16" barrel in mind. Perfect for the Grendel, would be one handy little rifle.

For a handy lightweight rifle that can be used for everything in a pinch, including hunting, 6.5Grendel should be a better choice than any 22. For a dedicated target and varmint rifle 224V should be better. It might become the go to predator rifle, but for larger game, there is an advatnage to a bigger 6.5mm projectile.

Lately, I have also been looking at various Grendel variants, like the 6mm AR Turbo 40 which promises some interesting ballistics. I do not expect Q to offer those, but as long as they have a Grendel compatible bolt, all sorts of experiments are possible.

Agreed, Also don't forget the .224 AR Grendel variant. More case capacity than the .224V and Lapua brass to boot.

Yup, if you're shooting animals, the Grendel seems to be a much better choice than the Valkyrie. I'd like a mini Fix in both, though ;)

The 6mm turbo would be the best cartridge for that size rifle. Its ballistics would prob beat both the valkyrie and 6.5 grendel. launch a 6mm a 2900fps from necked down grendel brass would be slick.

To get 2900fps out of 6mm Turbo, you really need to run a barrel that is 26" or longer. I think that sorta defeats the purpose of the Mini Fix by making it too long. However, with a reasonable weight 20" barrel, you should be able to get over 2700fps with 108gr bullet which is still going to be very flat and harder hitting than 224V.

It is nice to have options.

Anybody can like anything they want, and I certainly have no issue with that. From a performance standpoint, a 6.5G mini Fix makes no sense since the 6.5C Fix exists. I was a big fan of the 6.5G, when it was about the best you could get in an AR-15, but with the intro of the Fix, the lesser ballistics of the G are no longer worth dealing with, unless you need or prefer a semi auto. The Fix may be a short action rifle, but it handles like a mini action - just awesome. I personally want a mini Fix in 224V, as a dedicated varmint/predator gun. My 6.5C Fix can certainly fill that role just fine, but the mini and the 224V appeal to me. I suppose it will be fractionally lighter, so as a nice walking varminter, with less pelt damage, it seems like a good niche for me.

.224V makes no sense since you have a regular fix, just run a 22-250, 22 Creedmoor what ever....

From a performance standpoint the .244V blah, blah, blah....

As has already been stated in this thread, if your buying this rifle (Mini) your already accepting the shortcomings of the magazines. The Grendel and it's Case in a mini action bolt rifle will offer a crap load more utility and options than the .224V case. Seems like a no brainer for what I thought was this rifles intended purpose...

I’m curious to hear feedback from those of you who have them coming. I see it as a nicer version of an RPR. I think it’s realky cool to see something different but can’t stand the marketing and the owner seems like a giant tool...

After calling the Fix a nicer version of the RPR, Kevin probably feels the same way about you...

As I said, my 6.5C would do just fine as is. I'm not big on the .22's in a short action, but nothing wrong with them either. I think you're maybe missing the point of my comparision of the 224V vs. the 6.5G. For ME, I view the mini Fix as a varmint/predator setup. The smaller bullet with the awesome external ballistics is great for that. I've hunted big game with the 6.5G for the last 4 years, and I find it somewhat lacking compared to a good short action chambering. Given that the weight of a Fix in 6.5C is extremely close to the weight of an AR-15 in 6.5G, I see no point in the grendel anymore. I originally chose the 6.5G because I wanted the superior ergos of the AR, with big game taking power, but in a smaller lighter packagethan an AR-10 can provide. Given that the weight of the Fix is likely to be very similar to the weight of the mini Fix, I don't see the benefit of the weight loss as being worth it to trade down to the 6.5G.

You of course are welcome to see it how you like, and make your choices accordingly.

OK, here's the straight poop, and then I'll go away.

Kevin,

Sincerest apologies for muddying up your chance to talk about your cool ass little rifle. When you state that "The Fix changes the industry" guys like me, would like to hear why you think that is. Vague statements like "if you don't see it...." are viewed as a huge cop out. I was extremely hard on you because of this and I should not have been.

I will not back down however on my opinion that the magazine choice is a mistake as I see a 6br The Fix as an amazing set up that is not doable with the current mags.

I still think I could out shoot you... :)

The The Fix and Mini Fix will both be available as pistols...California OK, can keep it loaded in your truck in most states, no NFA, don't have to notify NFA when crossing state lines, etc. Makes a lot of sense.

I doubt we will make 458SOCOM barrels (but, I won't say "never"), however we will be supplying barrel makers with extensions, so you will have the ability to have it made at least.

Thanks for the input and kind words. We are definitely sticking with Q-Sert. Its better. M-Lok is good and it's cheaper. We considered using it on the Mini Fix in order to lower costs, but decided to do the best thing, Q-Sert, and offer M-Lok hand guards as accessory items. There will be a full line of Q-Sert accessories.

What length do you prefer for 6.5 Grendel?

I don't disagree with this. I guess if you only get the Mini Fix, 6.5 Grendel is a nice option to have.

Yeah, I don't think you get it. The RPR is essentially a 125 year old bolt action with AR-15 furniture clamped to it. The Fix is very different. It offers a lot of advantages in design and execution, using modern manufacturing and current knowledge of metallurgy, coatings, etc., producing something much lighter weight, more versatile, modular, ergonomic, safer, etc. If the marketing or distain for me would keep you from buying something superior, then I'm sure the Mossberg, Ruger or Savage offerings serve you just fine and I encourage you to stick with them.

No doubt ??‍♂️ #sciencepossible
It's not that. I don't know who you are, so you aren't important to me. We have a tremendous back order, which is currently very uncommon in the firearms industry. We only need about 1% of gun buyers as customers. I don't want to be the biggest. I only want to innovate and be the best, and serve the customers that understand that and desire it.

Your proclaimed motivates are disingenuous and not supported by your previous posts. So, STFU. If you have a technical question to help you, or others, to understand The Fix, or why it's different or an improvement, just ask it and evaluate my response. Otherwise, GTFO. So, it seems you are the one 'copping out'. You were not 'hard on me', you were just a troll. I'm not afraid of any question about the rifle, so ask the toughest little question you can come up with.

I'm unconcerned about your opinion of our mag choice or my shooting ability. With The Fix, with the mag doesn't take your longers loads, I shot a deer at the same distance you want to have a shooting 'competion'. Get fuck out of here...

I am eagerly waiting to get a 224v mini Fix. The guys at Q have been nothing but first class in their , their products (6.5 Fix and Honey Badger) are awesome, the quality is great (and I have nice stuff AI, JP, etc) .... cant wait to see what else is coming.

Kevin - i see you offer barrels, any chance to get a quicker twist in the 6mm CM on a proof? They make 1:7.5 for the heavier bullets. Just thought i would ask.

Thanks! We are trying hard. The products, thus far, have honestly exceeded my expectations. Production is ramping, and more products are being developed.

We have some 6mm CM barrels. I'll check by Monday to tell you what they are...
