I agree 150% with Ilya. A have been a lot of companies start in this industry over the last 10 years. To me, very few have the potential to make something as truly special as Kevin and his team at Q.

There is a very hard to explain type of unique passion that they have. I didn't have the money personally to get in on the Fix but my day job allowed me but alot of them and this team will make some incredible things.

My plan as of right now is to add 8.6CM barrel to my current Fix when available. I think it is going to be a really interesting cartridge, now that I saw what it looks like. And 300WSM whenever that shows up.

I am also planning to purchase the MiniFix when they come out with a Blackout or Grendel version whichever gets here first (probably Blackout).

It will take a little time, but I plan to have both version of the Fix. Unless, they come out with a longer action version as well. That could be interesting too.

The way it stands right now, I expect the Fix to eventually replace all of my other modern bolt guns.

I can't run suppressors in CA, but I can elsewhere (my brother does not live in CA and we have a trust).

In what way has 50 Beowulf gotten 458SOCOM whooped soundly other than a snazzier name? With comparable bullet choice, I doubt there is any practical difference between 458SOCOM, 50 Beowulf or 450Bushmaster. 458SOCOM has a bit of an advantage with bullet availability, and the fact that regular GI mags work with it, but that is largely it. It does not headspace on the case mouth, so maybe there is something in that.

It has nothing to do with the name. It kills better. Well actually the .50 caliber projectiles kill more efficiently than the .45 caliber projectiles at subsonic speeds. So much so that watching them both side by side there is a spectacular difference.

You mentioned "comparable bullet choice"--what is comparable to a .50 500gr XTP?

Up until this point I have never seen a white tailed deer shot with a subsonic projectile, which hit so hard it sounded like a deep hollow drum hit. The deer got knocked down onto his ass like he was sitting down like a person. His legs went stiff and he fell over and rolled a few feet down the hill. Subsequent butchering showed no impact to his spine or neck. This wasn't an isolated experience as it repeated itself over and over this past season.

Like I said previously. I've shot a pile of deer sized critters with .44 and .45's subsonic suppressed rigs. I'm used to hearing the bullet slap the flesh like a ratan training sword striking--SLAPP. I've just never seen anything like this. The deer never moved again. And that's without head, neck or spin shots...

So bring on a pistol mini fix reciever and a grendel bolt head. Please don't just release them as 300blk....

I really want one of the new minis and I really like the 224v but kind of want to keep it compact, like a 16-18" barrel. Though that doesn't suit the 224v well.

The 300 blk variant is very tempting but is it going to be 1:5 twist? A 16" 1:8 would be great.

Locally there's a couple that I am seeing less than stellar results from the factory barrel's and thinking that IF I was to order one I would need to upgrade to the breitling or proof barrel to get the accuracy I would expect from a three plus thousand dollar rifle. Possible its just the first rounds through the rifle and it tightens up after break in?

It comes with a bartlein barrel, but you can pay the difference of a proof barrel. I have not gotten mine yet but I will let you know. I haven’t seen anything bad posted anywhere. I’ve only seen sub MOA on the inter webs. Im interested if it was crap ammo people are running. I bought a couple hundred rounds of prime (for the brass) and I hope it likes it

I ordered the mini, I was initially hesitant but I figured I would give it a try. It is reassuring that you have such good things to say about the rifle and the company. I guess we will see if the .224V lives up to the hype but it fills a niche quite well for me personally (on paper at least).

What are you finding in terms of accuracy with yours? I’m having a hard time finding much real world data posted online.

I’m cautiously optimistic that the company has their ducks in a row and their investors are pleased enough with the pre-orders and demand to keep funding them until they reach full production. It would be nice to get a reply to my email however...the timeline is what it is, just tell us

That is my understanding as well. The two that I have seen the owner tried several types of factory match as well as a couple hand loads.

I am not sure is I would make blanket statements like "kills better" based on anecdotal evidence. Midway offers a bit over 80 different 458 cal bullets from fracturing LeHigh designs that dump all of their energy in the animal, to subsonic bullets that come apart at low velocitys, to bonded core softpoints to full metal jackets, that can probably stop a buffalo. Pick what works for you. Given that there is a bunch of bullets out there designed for 458 SOCOM velocities, options are plentiful.

Anyhow, there will be a Grendel barrel and bolt best I can tell.

I have a fair amount of ammo through the 16" 308 and depending on ammo accuracy seems decent. I shot a box 168gr FGMM through it as a control sample and it was right around 0.75 MOA. One other factor ammo did a touch better and another did a touch worse. This barrel is a Bartlein. I also have a 24" Proof barrel here, but I have not tested it yet.

Do keep in mind, that for me that is pretty decent shooting. So I am likely to be the limiting factor.

That's fair. I do not spend a whole lot of time killing things. Unfortunately, I have a day job that keeps me busy. However, there are a lot of people out there shooting things with the 458SOCOM, so I will defer to them. I know Bill Wilson has been killing things with the 458SOCOM in Texas for a while and even took it to Africa a couple of times accounting for Cape Buffalo among other things. I never asked him what he thinks of the 50 Beowulf, so I wonder what he thinks.

Picked it up yesterday. Oddly enough the 10rd Kac mags I ordered were waiting for me when I got home. Mounted up a Bushnell Lrhs in a spuhr mount, boresighted it, took the cherry bomb off and screwed my Hybrid on for now.

At rounds 4,5, and 6 I was zeroed.

and then I sent 4 at 375 just guessing at 2700fps for mv.

I did have an issue with the brass I was using. A few had ejector swipes from the previous load and a piece was shaved off and jammed the ejector. It finally unstuck on its own. I was trying to figure out how to disassemble the bolt to see if I could blow compressed air on the backside to free it.

A few rounds out of a mag had a heavier bolt lift than the rest. It is smoothing out some with use though. Went on out to 990yds after that and was on within a few rounds.

Very happy with the rifle.

I finally took mine out the last two weekends and I am not getting the accuracy that I am expecting but I am still getting used to the rifle and my groups are getting better the more rounds go through it and my setup gets better. My biggest gripe is that teeny weeny recoil pad, this is a very light rifle even with a little over two pounds in the optic and mount, my shoulder is as green as granny smith apple now and swollen a little. I would not have thought it would be that bad and maybe its the Lapua ammo but damn it hurts. You guys that up north shouldn't really have this issue but I live in t-shirt weather 10 months out of the year. The last shot I took was a bad shot and the rifle came off my shoulder a bit, I was done for the day after that.

It's going to be a couple of weeks before I can get out again and work with it so hopefully I can get a lot of dry firing in and get used to the rifle so I can get some good shots in.

It is hard to place an objective view after years of running my Desert Tech and 700 clones that i wanted to compare it to, however i am very impressed with this weapon. Initially the 45 degree throw took some getting used to but it grows on me more and more each time i cycle the bolt. The trigger is an upgrade from my SRS. The Trash Panda was incredibly light and i am excited for the form 3 to process and i can add it to the book (i am on 07/02). I have about 2 Cases of prime and some Hornady i will run though it until i can get back to my press for a load workup.

Good to hear. Your setup sounds similar to my plans.. I have a Minox ZP5 5-25 sitting here. Waiting on the rifle preorder through a dealer still. I have both Geissele 34mm mount and Seekins rings, but undecided what I'm using at this point. Suppressor that I am putting on the end is a Rugged Micro30 in the short 5 inch config. Figure I would go small and light for a 16 inch 308 gun. If im unhappy with that, Ill just toss on my TB ultra 7. Let us know how it shoots.

I live in California, so a t-shirt is my normal shooting range attire. As an experiment, I shot a couple of boxes of factory ammo through my Fix with a 16" barrel, so it was quite light (I am now switching to a longer Proof barrel which makes it a touch heavier) and while I felt that I was shooting, there was no bruising of any sort and definitely nothing turned green on my shoulder. Not even any redness. Are you sure your adjusted your stock correctly for LOP and all that? I do not doubt your account, but I just can't fathom how our experiences can be so different. I thought that the recoil was rather mild, considering how light the gun is.

I'm a pretty small guy, and shooting 185 Juggernaught's, the gun still doesn't feel like much. Not to sound silly, but are you straight back behind the rifle? Loading a bipod, or resting on a ruck? In your pocket, or on your clavicle?

If I am prone then yes, my right side is straight behind the rifle, I'm right handed. I've done prone and bench and it's similar either bipod or bags. Some shots are worse than others so that why I think it's me getting used to rifle and consistency. If I'm upright it goes in the meat of my pec not the clavical and prone, which isn't too bad on me, it would be more bone I guess, I will check later and verify, but upright is the more painful on me. Hell, maybe maybe I have just been shooting nice soft rifle more lately and being a wuss or I'm getting old.

Well, obviously all of us have different recoil tolerance, but the pad on the Fix is quite small. It may be hitting your nerve bundle or something, IDK. I was told a bigger version would be available soon, but that was a couple of months ago. MAybe a try a kick ez pad or something as a quick fix?
