Ok, six month necropost.
I got a set of ARNVGs and finally got to test them out tonight and they’re pretty damned slick. My only previous dual tube experience was ANVIS in the 90s and PVS-21s in the 00s, and these feel nothing like them. Where ANVIS were delicate, these are rugged with aircraft aluminum construction. Where PVS-21s were heavy and blocked your ability to see around or under the NODs, these are quite light and efficient.
There’s a connector for each tube that gets switched off when you swing a tube up for stowage with auto-shutoff. It runs on a single CR123 but it’s also got a lemo port for an AB battery pack.
I waited for some special order L3 24UA high FOM tubes and they’re in a whole other category than what I’ve been used to. The clarity and contrast are very easy on the eyes, but I really wish they had manual gain instead of blasting my eye on full WP afterburner
