I looked for 140 before I got the kit, but didn’t see an available option, it will still come in handy. I looked at seekonk and it would be $299 for just a T handle, so the kit with multiple limiters and bits is a good deal it would probably cost 4-500 to piece together.
I’d definitely pay for a non rotating QD mount, I just put on a 45 degree QD mount from the top rail, it does the job since the side mount doesn’t work very well. With side mounted WD the rifle wants to dig into everything it touches due to rotational force. the 45 degree QD is almost as good as have a top 0 degree QD. I’m considering getting another to mount behind the scope and forgo the stock cups.
I’ve been doing stationary shooting, but playing with being able to carry it around in the woods. So far getting it to be as comfortable as an AR, is challenging. I went from a vtac padded sling to a tabgear prs aling and the cobra mounts are both uncomfortable and a bit noisy.
Trial and error I guess.

I just looked at some photos and noticed the torx screws are absent on this rifle, by the magazine well.
Think the Big Army finally chose the best PSR to meet its quick change barrel solicitation.
Would anyone share seating depth examples for 300 PRC loads? I was wondering if anyone has done any testing with bullet jump and the MRAD.
I know funny enough I was looking for one on there a couple days ago then this kit was released.
Does anyone have bullet seating depth examples for the MRAD in 300 PRC? I am curious if groups improved when seating at or closer to the lands.
It’s a pretty blah kit compared to others they offer for $100 less. The only thing I need in it is the 140 driver. Hopefully they start selling them separately.
The works kit has lots of tools in it, no 140 inch lb limiter though... I paid $220 for that kit.
I picked up the adjustable kit before this one, I’ll probably leave it in the work bench it’s 10-80 lb I think.
I was planning to buy extra bits and such to put a harbor freight 1/4” TQ wrench in there. This kit covers it all though, even has a hammer bit to go with the punches.
I’l probably pick up a spare parts kit next month for the small parts I can put in there.

Gotcha. Wonder if they are doing it exclusive for Barrett so they can mark the shit up so much.
I just got mine so still figuring it out... anyone have a hard time inserting/removing a magazine? I was fit checking with a full magazine and man it was a lot of wiggling back and forth to get it out. This is with the 338 LM set up... I understand the 300 Norma uses the same magazine....\
Fixit responded yesterday, saying they make them for the Barrett kit but don't at this time have availability to sell it directly.
I am looking to buy the gun I should have bought in the first place, meaning before I found the Hide, I wandered through Savage hell, then "stepped up" to an RPR in 6mm CM. Bottom line, I am looking to buy either an MRAD or AI AXSA about a year or so, from now. I thought I was set on AI until I saw this thread (I've read every post). So, my questions are:
1. What made you decide on the MRAD as opposed to AI? Meaning, what tipped the scales for you?
2. Does anyone know someone near Phoenix/Tucson area where I could shoot an MRAD. (I'll pay for ammo, and add some $ for letting me try an MRAD)
I've tried to read everything I can on both guns, so I don't seem like a total dumb ass, but I'm leaning toward the MRAD as I like the switch barrel simplicity from short to long action calibers. I would probably go with 300 Win Mag and 6.5 CM, since I don't reload. I am NOT former military or LE, just as an FYI- I just got into shooting rifles the past 3 years. I was raised shooting a ton with shotguns in the Midwest. I appreciate the help/guidance.

I have owned several AI's and just got my first MRAD. I have not really tested the Barrett to ELR yet so I cannot speak tp comparative accuracy but so far I am really liking the concept. I think the differences are fairly subjective such a a preference for the ergos over the stock types. with both eyes closed, gripping the rifle, getting behind the scope and into a firing position, the MDR just felt better and or more natural. I used the same S+B 5 x 25 scope on each. One thing I am trying to figure out on the MDR is why it is so difficult to insert a full 10 round magazine. I do prefer the metal AI type over the plastic composite magazines.
Just wanted to thank those who replied here and on PM. All of you have helped me think more clearly and answered some questions that were in the back of my mind, as well. You know how this goes; you want to do as much research as possible so you don’t make a mistake you later regret. I have enough of those already.
I have 5 civilian MRADs....the full Barrett Rainbow......please, Ronnie, don't start making 'em in Muddy Girl Camo or my GF is gonna want one.....with 7 caliber conversion kits, icluding the .300PRC. Have the MK22 Deployment Kit incoming.....as seen in someone else's other post. Also, have 3 M107A1s, and 5 REC7 DMRs covering the rainbow. Yet to start the short REC10 rainbow....distracted by the MK22. Only thing lacking is....adult supervision in my life.
Have the 26" 338LM; 20 and 22" 308 all fluted. The 26" is really barrel heavy. But, don't plan on clearing structures or humping mountains any more.
While I don't have a 300 Norma, I can tell you the 300win mag recoils less then my Remington 5r in 308 did (the 5r did not have a brake) in fact, I feel like my mrad in 338lm recoils about as much as the un-braked 5r (maybe SLIGHTLY more). And it's not just me, my friends that have shot the mrad were amazed by how light she shoots...
I've mentioned this to them like 10 times.
For now, getting something like the KAC RAS handstop and putting it on the bottom rail works as it doesnt allow the QD swivel to rotate as it'll run into the rail when it tries to.
I put a rail mounted QD mount on, it angled down at 45 off the top rail. Adds an ounce or so but at least it doesn’t spin and the rifle doesn’t want to spin sideways so much.

Try Boonie Packer Safari sling. You won't be disappointed. Great flexibility, and only about $30. Beats all other sling designs. Been using similar concept since military. Originally concept from Viet Nam era grunts.
Think you are referring to large breech and small breach. First roughly 1100 or so MRADs were a larger diameter bolt. The large breech requires a breach kit about $400 to use later small breach caliber conversion kits. Large breech barrels are identified by two cross clearance cuts (slots) for the barrel tightening screws in the barrel extension area underside. Smaller diameter small breach barrels do not have these as the screws clear the extension diameter.
MRAD Bag RiderSKU: 18799 in black only is available in Barrett store at $75.00. It will be slightly long for the civilian MRAD as it was designed for the MK22 Mod 0 stock, but will work on any picatinny rail.
Have hit Barrett Marketing for the appropriate bore to top pic rail dim several times. CRICKETS!!!! Note that dimension is variable depending where measured due to inclined rail...20MOA on civy rifles; 10MIL on MK22 MOD 0 version. Where to measure....mid-turret, objective glass, ocular glass??? Owners can measure it, but Barrett has it on a drawing. Why not acknowledge their customers need and demonstrate understanding by providing it in the manual. DUH???? Marketing focuses on pretty catalog pics. Note the sketchy, useless description under each item on the Store website. They want $525 for their shooting mat/carry case with no description of features, material, etc. Just, it's Barrett, send $525. They could up their commercial game with so little effort.

Think that is the MRAD SMR (Single Mission Rifle)...non-change barrel and non-folding stock. 98B was predecessor to MRAD, now discontinued, and replaced as SMR at $4995 versus full MRAD at $6145.....best $1150 up cost for change barrel and folding stock.
338LM is a "C" family mag. 300NM and 338 NM are both new "D" family mags. Therefore, the MK22 Deployment kit contains 10 identical "D" mags per Joel Miller, Barrett Global Military Manager on 6/12/20.
Both GEN 1 and GEN2 both pinch the barrel. The roughly first 1100 MRADs were large breach with the barrel pinch bolts "nicking" the barrel extension.....bout 1/2 diameter bolt slots. Small breach bolts totally miss the smaller diameter barrel extensions.
Rustyinbend.....SHHHH....don't tell the whipper snappers what gettin' old is like. Let 'em find themselves....like we've had to. It's not the anticipated party, but it still beats the other alternative.......to date.
Look at YouTube video by Darrik Bolduc, Barrett Engineer, demonstrating MRAD caliber swap technique. Note to preload barrel to left....it's a RH twist.....during bolt torquing....similar to pushing scope mount forward against pic rail during torquing. That preload increases zero repeatability.
M-Lok, bag rider, vertical adjustable butt pad are features only on the MRAD MK22 MOD 0 version as on 6/20. Appears they will be migrating to civy models at undefined time. Also, includes the "toggle lever" bolt disassembly, 10MIL vs 20MOA rail.
Regarding the barrel preload right or left. Might suggest preloading to the left only as the barrels are RH twist. The same concept as pushing scope mounts FORWARD into the picatinny rail....instead of rearward.
