The SEC has won five consecutive BCS Championships

Re: The SEC has won five consecutive BCS Championships

to the oregon offensive coordinator- go shoot yourself, how many draws can you run on the goal line, and short yardage when they AREN"T WORKING?!!!

to cam newton- have fun doin nothing in the NFL you will fit in perfectly with the long history of QB's that come from the SEC and go on to do a whole lot of bench warming

Boy, there's an understatement!! When your line is out weighed by 45 pounds each, you know it's going to be a long game. I am really proud of our Ducks for fighting hard in such a hard game and taking the shine off of Mr. Heisman. However, congrats Auburn. In my opinion, Fairley won the game for ya.

I'm glad UO kept up the Oregon tradition of chocking at championship games. Gives a sense of solidarity with their Trailblazer cousins.

Like Namath, Stabler, and more recently Manning?

Like Dave said above Fairly won the game. It clearly came down to defense. And Auburn was able to keep some momentum going. It was a great game to watch. Very exciting. The ducks Offensive plan did the best they could, but did not adapt well. Auburn took a different approach and it showed in how much Newton ran the ball. They knew the ducks were going to shut him down so they tried not to use him to run the ball so much. He could not move it when he did try to run. How many rushing TD did he score this game as opposed to what he did during the regular season?

It goes to show in the USA the SEC, PAC10, Big10 are the major conferences and right now the SEC dominates.

Re: The SEC has won five consecutive BCS Championships

Congrats Cheaters for barely squeeking out a victory. You still have a way to go to "dominate" the Pac-10, but records and facts have never mattered to the SEC or to it's poser fans.

http://espn.go.com/blog/sec/post/_/id/18014/sec-vs-the-pac-10

To Cam Newton, daddy did it my man. He took the blame and was able to convince everyone that he did it without your knowledge. To most of the SEC sheep that's good enough for them. For the few intelligent SEC fans, and to the rest of college football fans, we know different. That's OK though because your time will come. Reggie Bush thought he had got away with it too when he scooted off to the draft but look what happened to him.

Speaking of the draft, good luck with that Cam. As Terd Tebow found out NFL coaches and owners don't want their million dollar quarterbacks putting their helmet down and running the ball. And since you don't have an arm but rather a skeet chucker, you'll come to the rapid realization when you report to camp that you suck as a pocket passer. My advice to you would be to invest your signing bonus wisely as that will probably be what you need to live on. Ask daddy for some investment advice. Oh wait, according to the pundits you don't speak to your daddy.

To you Mr. Fairley, you dirty piece of shit, good luck trying that at the next level. You'll find your ass missing an ACL or MCL. You wont be the big boy of the bunch anymore and you'll find out in a hurry that dirty shit doesn't fly.

To the rest of the Auburn players, congratulations. You played hard and eeked out a victory, a victory none the less.

Now anyone want to see how many football players from each team actually graduate and are in a career now that their college football is over?

It is funny how SEC fans chant "S-E-C" all the time. The Big 12 fans don't do that because we are smart enough to know that we recruit against all the other teams in the Big 12. We also don't get all excited when another team from the Big 12 wins a national championship for that exact reason, it hurts us in recruiting.

The other teams in the SEC are supposed to be your hated rivals, not your back up team to root for when your favorite team doesn't make a bowl game or had theirs back in December.

That's true. And the major reason for that is a majority of fans in other conferences are made up of alumni and associations with the schools. You would never get an OSU fan pulling for Michigan.

However in the SEC, fans have virtually no association with a school so rather than pulling for pride, they pull because they're riding the band wagon and they have no loyalty to anyone.

The same poser who will wear an Auburn hat this year is the same poser that wore an Alabama hat last year and a Florida hat the year before.

Relish your victory and your second national championship. It will be a LONG TIME before you see another.

BTW, you graduated from Auburn didn't you Austin?

Re: The SEC has won five consecutive BCS Championships

I will admit ... I pull for two actual SCHOOLS .... PSU, and UGA. If PSU ever played UGA I gotta pull for PSU. UGA looked like shit this year, they had one highlight and he is gone after the draft. UGA lost to UCF 6 to 10, am I pissed about that? Damn right fuccin UCF? Seriously? Only putting 6 points on the board is a shame.

Now since UGA sucked it up I will pull for the conference, the SEC is a tough place to play. I was not rooting for Auburn, I was rooting for the SEC.

As far as being a poser fan .... Ive been a UGA fan since I have been in Ga, and thats 19 plus years now.

Re: The SEC has won five consecutive BCS Championships

Wow Mike.....tell us how you really feel!

I find it pretty amusing how grown men get all worked up over a college football game.....seriously though...

The reason why SEC fans root for other SEC teams that make it to the National Championship is because contrary to what you believe, we are very loyal to our other Southern teams! Just because our favorite team didn't make it, doesn't mean we automatically root for the other divisions.

I'm a Ga. Tech fan....but if UGA makes it to the "Big Game" I'll be rooting for my "in-State brothers".....because I still have a sense of pride that a Georgia team made it......kind of like how you hate your brother & you fight all the time, but if someone else is fighting your brother.....well....you pull for your brother!

Call me crazy.....maybe I'm different....but that's how we think.....

Re: The SEC has won five consecutive BCS Championships

By another team from the SEC winning the national title your team will lose recruits, period.

By you rooting for them, shows that you either don't care, or don't realize how cutthroat the recruiting of these kids really is.

Don't give me that Southern people pull for Southern teams. Baloney! You think that by Auburn winning it makes your team look better. Fact is to a high school athlete it makes your team look worse.

Re: The SEC has won five consecutive BCS Championships

My,my,my! some venom being spewed here!! lol Contrary to your assumptions JCH, Most people in the SEC wouldn't pull for the Sooners, or any other Big 12 team for that matter.

So far as recruiting, the best players want to play in the best conference!! Period. If your delusional theory was accurate the same SEC team would always get the best players, WRONG.

Thank you Mike for not classifying all of us SEC fans as posers!! I happen to be in the 5% who feel like Cam Newton shouldn't have played nor the other thugs from Ohio State.

But as Dave stated early on Cam didn't win that game, Auburn's defense did.

Oregon has one of the fastest football teams I've seen in awhile, it wasn't enough last night.

Am I glad an SEC team won! Damn right I am, has it affected LSU's recruiting class this year, I don't think so. Wait till the ratings come out i believe we will have an excellent class of recruits.

Is the Big 12 worth a crap, maybe it is but Les Miles didn't think so, he's staying at LSU!!

So in jest boyz it's over, I appreciated a very good National Championship game as the 2 best teams in College football competed.

Re: The SEC has won five consecutive BCS Championships

Everything being said, Auburn will have to wipe this season from it's record books in the end and Cam will have to give back the trophies. But nobody can take back the millions that were made by Auburn last night.

Re: The SEC has won five consecutive BCS Championships

The reason you don't mind jumping from one team to another is because you have no loyalty. You have no loyalty because you have no affiliation.

I guess since I was born and raised in California, I can rightly claim to be a fan of every college and university in every sport "just because" I happen to have lived there.

I'll tell you another thing. There were ample Alabama fans that were pulling for Oregon last night just as there were ample Auburn fans pulling for Texas last year. THAT is loyalty to your team. Not this "well, I happen to live in the south, or in the state, so that's good enough for me. Fair weather Johnson.

Re: The SEC has won five consecutive BCS Championships

Explain to me again how pulling for one team in a game is being "disloyal" to a completely different team that is no longer playing the game because their season is already done....?

Let's see, one of my brothers went to Ga. Tech (which is my affiliation to pulling for them...) my other brother & his wife went to UGA....My uncle went to Alabama.....but last night, we all pulled for Auburn......ya know.....the SEC team.....

I guess we're all just a bunch of non-loyal, fair weather Johnson's....LOL!

Re: The SEC has won five consecutive BCS Championships

Yep.

Here's how it works. If your team is done, then they're done. It's not "well team "A" lost so now it's on to team "B"". Why weren't you rooting for team "B" in the first place? Where does it stop?

Brothers, sisters, parents, uncles, cousins, neighbors, kid down the street, the paperboy. I guess I have dozens of universities covered. 2011 will be a great year in sports for this new "fan".

I will use your logic for every sport and season coming up. I'm a guaranteed winner!!

Re: The SEC has won five consecutive BCS Championships

You see Mike it's a little different for me. Back in my hay day, I have fond memories of wonderful nights with Belles from both Auburn and Alabama!!

Actually in my sport it was powerful to be enjoying the damsels of the teams we dominated!!

But as I grow older and softer the fond memories of those nights flashback and tears the hate out of my heart for those two formidable foes!!

I hope you can understand and forgive my understandable loyalty, it has youthful ties!! lol

Guys please don't be offended by my post above, I'm just stirring s%^t.

I'm a football fan, didn't really care who won, I enjoyed the the 2 best teams in the nation facing off!!

But in the 70's SEC women rocked my world!!! lol

Your a funny guy Mike. I'm trying to remember how it was I grew up rooting for a particular team....since when we are kids, ya know....we're not attending college at the time...let's see.....

Oh yeah, I remember, it's generally because a member of your family is a huge fan, so you become one too, or maybe they actually attended those schools, so you become a fan. That's my story.....

Both of my brothers earned scholarships to their college.....I am definitely the dumb one in the family as I didn't earn any scholarships and could only afford to pay for the local community college. So sorry, if I didn't actually attend one of the schools in the SEC.

I guess I might look at it differently if I was a student at one of those big college schools......but then again both my brothers were & they still pulled for Auburn last night.

Are you really this offended by SEC fans......? Or it is more that your just pissed that your own team or Conference didn't win...? I used to get all fired up like you too, when I was between 15 & 30 yrs. of age......but now I'm older & more mature, so I don't get so riled up anymore about sports.

They are just something to watch as I reload & surf the web....

please clarify affiliation. if i didnt attend the university i shouldn't pull for them?

I'm a season ticket holding LSU fan. i pull for SEC schools when bowl season come around. this makes me a sellout or a fair weathered fan? the way i see it is if the SEC wins out in bowl games it just goes to strengthen the fact that the SEC is the toughest conference to play in.

Re: The SEC has won five consecutive BCS Championships

Five straight BCS titles by SEC teams.
Two consecutive years with the Heisman going to the SEC. Ah, in the same state no less.
National champion from the state of Alabama two consecutive years.
All I will say about that is no other conference/state has had this kind of remarkable result. It is history!
I am an Alabama fan since I was 12 years old. I think it came mostly because of Bear Bryant. Many of my family have attended there. I went to a smaller university.
I pulled for Auburn last night and was truly proud to see them win.
As for the SEC, how else can we prove to the haters that the SEC is THE BEST in the nation? We have taken on most all the other "Big Boys" and kicked their asses!
Not to mention how good we have gotten at covering up our pay for play donations to certain dads. (just couldn't help putting the dig into my AU buddies)

Re: The SEC has won five consecutive BCS Championships

Here's the story MGD,

I don't like to be "mature". Prefer to live by the same passion that drove me when I was in my late teens and early twenties actually playing football at a major university. I find that it keeps me feeling young inside and keeps a pep in my step. Plus it helps when I tear up the southern belle's that are much younger than I.

However, I digress.

The resentment stems from the fact that down here the ratio of "true fans", i.e. fans that have a true affiliation to a school, to those that are riding the band wagon are probably one in four; truth be told it is probably higher than that.

If I blind folded you and dropped you here at the beach in the summer without telling you what year it is, I would venture to say you could accurately guess the year just by the fan paraphernalia worn by those whose ONLY association with a university is that they happen to live in the same state.

There is an inverse relationship of the rapaciousness of a fan to his association to the school of his affection and you will not find that outside of the SEC. This lumps all SEC fans together and makes everyone look like a bunch of idiot rednecks.

So what it comes down to is the SEC fan has an obnoxiousness about him that he has not earned and it makes him look like an idiot.

Re: The SEC has won five consecutive BCS Championships

I have been an Alabama fan since childhood. I look at the schedule as a series of rivalry games. Some are hated more than others. For example, in order: Auburn, Tennessee, and Florida top the list.

Last night, I was an Oregon fan. If another SEC team is playing in a bowl, I would normally prefer to see them win. I'm not cheering for them, I don't run out and buy a t-shirt or a sticker for the car. The way I look at it is if the other teams in the conference do well it makes my team look better. The difference last night is that now for a friggin' year I have to listen to "how great they were". I've got a couple pics I'll try to find when I get home. Love the "Auburn Spelling Bee Team".

.

Re: The SEC has won five consecutive BCS Championships

I think it's pretty obvious that the Auburn spelling photo has been altered......nuff said on that...

Mike,

Like I said in an earlier post, if I had attended one of these schools personally, (like U did) then maybe I would look at it differently. Trust me...I know plenty of fans that absolutely hate the fact that their major rival beat them or won the National title.....but deep down, they are still proud that their Conference won the title. Maybe it's part of the ole "Southern Hospitality" thingy.... Simple as that.

Re: The SEC has won five consecutive BCS Championships

Nobody is disputing the fact that in the last 5 years the SEC has been the most dominant conference and had the most competitive league.

The fact that you refuse to see even though it is right in front of your face is that rooting for teams you compete against every year is ridiculous. It hurts your recruiting.

Do you honestly think that Nick Saban wanted Auburn to win? How about Les Miles? Steve Spurrier?
NO, NO, and NO.

They know that Auburn's success, makes their recruiting harder that year.

Rooting for your "conference" shows you aren't a true die hard fan of your school.

It is also funny how all the SEC talk stops as soon as football season is over.

Re: The SEC has won five consecutive BCS Championships

As a member of the Bama Family! All I can tell you is .... Kiss MY A$$! The day I pull for a team from the plains HELL really will freeze over. The best team in this state is in T'town. I do agree that the SEC has the best players in the country. But I digress. The NCAA has proved Money is the only thing they care about. But I pull for BAMA an any team that BEATS auburn.

End of rant!

Not exactly... Midway (even early sometimes) through the season you start hearing about which HS kid has given verbal commitments, etc. After the season ends, on the call in radio shows, you have 'what went wrong/right', followed by recruiting, then fans from school A talking about how a player from school B got caught doing whatever, then more recruiting. Of course, the normal amount of smack talk between Alabama and West Georgia.

At some point some guy will call in w/a basketball or baseball question that's dismissed and they go right back to talking about spring practice. IIRC somewhere around 93,000 showed up for Alabama's A Day Game this year and it was on ESPN... The SEC talk might die down on Sniper's Hide or in OK but it stays pretty strong year round here.

Im gonna chime in now that my hangover is almost gone. WAR DAMN EAGLE! In your face Alabama fans who cheer for the ducks. My uncle and step father are the same way. All the better when we win knowing it pisses you guys off. Now you guys can watch us wear our t-shirts 7 days out of the week.

Our Defense looked super, but I could tell Cam was not 100%. Could have been better, could have been worse.

At the end of the day. We win, we deserve it and bama can kiss it. Persoanlly, I think it is kinda cool that dispite being bitter rivals, we both share the same state, and many of us share the same family. For back to back seasons we both had Heisman trophy winners and brought home the National Title.
