eh, some people handle stress better than others, and some people just have more stress than others. that said, hard to understand what would lead folks to killing others like this. at the least, don't be a d1ck to others and at best, be nice to others. you never know whose kid is dying slowly in a cancer ward, who can't see their kids over the holidays due to custody issues, etc.I’ll take ‘Mental Illness’ for $200, Alex!
If everyone in that building were armed…less would have died.
All those things are horrible and stressful. But you have to have mental illness turned up to 11 to jump to the idea that the solution is blasting your co-workers, a nightclub, a post office or a church. Because doing that is not a normal stress reaction. Doing that is fucking nuts.eh, some people handle stress better than others, and some people just have more stress than others. that said, hard to understand what would lead folks to killing others like this. at the least, don't be a d1ck to others and at best, be nice to others. you never know whose kid is dying slowly in a cancer ward, who can't see their kids over the holidays due to custody issues, etc.
I remember back in the day when it seemed like there were a bunch of unhinged postal workers that shot up their workplaces. That's where the term "going postal" came from. Haven't seen any of those in a while. The USPS has been a hotbed of pissed off employees for a long time, A numcer of the first mass shootings occurred ath USPS. You get a worthless prick entrenched in a union job, who continually abuses his employees and ...voila',,,somebody fights back.
Apparently he (manager) told some of the people to leave the room and shot others. Dude must have been seriously fucking pissed off.
Well said.In the 49 years of working I have watched the whole Work Ethic and workplace/coworker/supervisor "normals" change to the point I simply had to get out - retire, save myself, and get out of The Way. I have a serious soft spot for most of the younger employees at my old place of employment as I trained and nurtured (literally) every Engineer, Installer, Programmer and even the Supervisors, Salesmen and Management. I have no idea how these people are gonna continue for another 20+ years until they can retire and escape.
It's a fucking madhouse trying to work now and just do your job and get home to take care of loved ones and responsibilities. Nothing seems to remain of the work ethic and "rules" that were "normal" back in 1973 when I entered the working world. I can't imagine spending 12 years at the Walmart working nights as apparently the shooter in this story did.
I think he literally just finally cracked and committed suicide after venting his anger, frustration, and madness. I used to tell my Employees (after we had a couple of instances people bullying and messing with other employees) about the theory of pushing some peoples buttons repeatedly and not giving them options. Some folks take the stress until they can't sleep at night....they can't perform normal functions and bit by bit they become so distressed that they end up sitting in the corner, in the dark, rocking back and forth and crying until they pick up a pistol and blow their brains out.
Then other folks take the stress until they can't sleep at night....they can't perform normal functions and bit by bit they become so distressed that they end up sitting in the corner, in the dark, rocking back and forth and crying until they pick up a pistol and blow everyone else's brains out before they end their own suffering.
Something in our Civilization/Culture is cracking record numbers of people, more and more every year, and driving them to murder others. Until we figure out what is broken and fix it, I fear we'll see more and more of this and the noose tightens. That said, my condolences to the families of the victims. It's the families and loved one who will suffer most from this.

Doesn't mention forcing anyone to commit a crime..Ok, w/o looking it up Ill give it a go.
The emotional, mental, and physical, reaction to finding oneself in a situation they're having to deal with.
The dictionary says:
a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances:"he's obviously under a lot of stress"

No, but everyone has their breaking point. Thats like when you put too much torque on the nut and it strips. Maybe for that short moment that they are stripped of reason they dont see what theyre doing as a crime, just getting even.Doesn't mention forcing anyone to commit a crime..
Weird.

while the stuff above is definitely very highly stressful, they are limited time events, and frankly, folks willingly and eagerly sign up for these. work or family-related stress has no definitive end date and may not be even close to voluntary (divorce, kid in cancer ward, etc) with no short term solution. but no way am i saying any sort of stress should cause anyone to shoot up a workplace, mall or school etc. it's definitely sad when folks see no way out and want to off themselves and it's too bad it doesn't just end there.Marine Scout Sniper course, SAS selection, Ranger School, Delta Selection, Q-Course, Officer Selection Course for Agency... all referred to as "Stress Courses." Why? Because they put people in stressful situations. Not knowing if you are passing? Up against time/distance unknowns? Wondering what others in the course are going to write about you (those questions are asked). Messing with your mind with changes in routines and unpredictability (in a world where predictability is king... the Military.)
The stress is used to bring out the best in people. And show who they really are. Stress is not always a bad thing. It's a motivator. It's a way to drive folks to excel. It's a way to separate hackers from non-hackers... But not in a destructive ways.
100 percent right...while the stuff above is definitely very highly stressful, they are limited time events, and frankly, folks willingly and eagerly sign up for these. work or family-related stress has no definitive end date and may not be even close to voluntary (divorce, kid in cancer ward, etc) with no short term solution. but no way am i saying any sort of stress should cause anyone to shoot up a workplace, mall or school etc. it's definitely sad when folks see no way out and want to off themselves and it's too bad it doesn't just end there.
No, but everyone has their breaking point.
I was never arguing that, only that the stress exacerbated the underlying problem to the breaking point.Sure but not everyone's breaking point ends in death and violence. In other words, there are very likely underlying mental issues contributing to reaching THAT breaking point.

Saw on the news a supervisor walked into the break room and started blasting. I hear what reasons are given for these shootings, but I don't get it. I can't empathize it. The world was a better place when businesses fired the lazy and men could settle things like men. In this era of less violence, there's sure as hell a lot more of it.
Exactly. Modern society says a man can't reveal anger, without being marked as violent, or out of control. The feelings get buried, until they erupt like a volcano. Anger is the scary emotion, for some. The expression of anger is healthy. Anger does not necessarily equal violence. The failure to express anger leads to mental illness.Yes. Less faces getting punched, more shootings and suicides. (Even when removing the Clinton suicides from the stats)
The art of talking to people on a truly on a human level, face to face, and being honest is being lost to a generation that plays video games and swipes left or right for dating apps.
stress , what stress Walmart is a free to visit freak show . There is no stress at that zoo only good laughs for the whole family .
when you need a reminder of just how lucky you are your not one of them yet , or how blessed you are that there problems are not yours . Pray and give thanks .
It's my belief that EVERYTHING taking place in our country is designed to do exactly this. All of the covid bullshit, which really exacerbated the situation for lots of people. We are under a constant barrage of things, which taken singularly, would be manageable for most folks, but when piled on, day after day, just becomes more than some can deal with.In the 49 years of working I have watched the whole Work Ethic and workplace/coworker/supervisor "normals" change to the point I simply had to get out - retire, save myself, and get out of The Way. The beatings should have continued until morale improved.......All these safe space fuckers can't handle when real life happens.
I also think this whole, "never spank your children" method of raising kids has caused a lot of problems.
