Its a crime to defraud a fishing tournament in some places(felony)in this event places lots of these guys get jail time(obviously it’s a felony), people get caught cheating at tournaments all the time but usually they have big fish caged up hidden under brush

You have to be really stupid to add 6-8 pounds total to a couple fish and think no one will notice. “How’s this 3 pound fish magically weigh 5?”. My favorite is how they guy inserted extra fish fillets too lol

I remember that incident. But there’s been enough incidents, some very public and some not so much, involving a number of different people.

I am generally a realist and optimist, but the realist in me has seen or heard of cheating in every competitive sport bar none and truly in any activity that involves competition. This is reality.

Bass tournaments are catch and release, many now are film the catch and then immediately release, keeps more fish alive.

Idgaf about any pro fishermen, pro anything, but fishing tournaments can be fun, much like gun matches. I take fishing too serious though, where as matches I am just there to better myself, so matches are more fun. After dumping a $70k dollar fish in 2001, I was done. That would have changed my life, however, not likely for the better.

Cheating cunts are everywhere. Last summer, a few of us when to a sporting clays tournament, mostly a fun shoot to raise money for FFA trap shooting at the local high schools. $250 buck 1st prize in four classes and a free BBQ lunch.

Two fuckheads from Seattle show up and are in "Novice" class shooting $15,000 plus K-80's and Gold Medal Grand shells. They are working over high schoolers and duffers shooting for fun to win a plaque and $250 bucks. Each of them broke deep into the 90's.

Every sport has cheaters and assholes. I cannot believe no one checked until that tourney.

I work with a couple guys that fish tournaments like this. Lake Michigan mainly. Majority of the time they have to keep them alive. Actually penalized if they die. Then yes they are released

Some are not like that. I’m guessing from the way these fish look in the pics that it’s a donation. Something like Feed America likely takes them if not wanted

Might be kinda fun to gin up some sonar decoys for the fancy side scan sonar fishermen. Put together a trophy-size fake fish of whatever is common for your local waterway, add a little buoyancy and a big weight / couple of strings to hold it a few feet / yards off the bottom. Maybe near a dam on a lake where "monster trophies" are rumored to be. Drop the fakes in a couple days before season (or contest) opens, then sit back with a couple cold ones and watch the frustrated festivities.

You can watch them eat your lure or bait, what type of fish it is and all that, but they can still hide from you. It's not like people think. Most people who try it, don't get even 50% out of it because of the settings or lack of knowledge or experience. But those that get it, can slay!

Yeah, that sounds like a real blast, knowing exactly where the fish are, what type and watch them go after your lure. Takes away all the guesswork and that annoying surprise you get when you got a strike.
