The CA legislature has proposed a law restricting cities from imposing usury impact fees on residential developments. According to the story most cities and municipalities have impact fees over 18% of the total cost of the unit. In SF in particular the medial home is $800,000, and $140,000 of that is impact fees paid directly to the city government for every front door. If you start $140,000 in the hole you literally cannot build an "affordable" house, period. You can only build a shitty $500,000 house or a nice $800,000 house, which is why this gross market distortion only produces ridiculously priced homes, and no competition on either end. These people have no sense, common or otherwise. This scheme to stop defrauding the people of California will probably get voted down. Till the idiot leftists are getting stabbed with needles they won't give up their fantasy world.

The funniest (really the saddest) thing is that they believe that by suspending their strangulation of home building and regulation they are somehow going to "solve" their homeless problem...as if lack of cheap homes was the cause of rampant addiction or that producing more would somehow abate rampant addiction.
