TheYankeeMarshal - gun confiscation

"Once the game really gets going, I would suspect the, Just Doing My Job Types, will rethink that somewhat. Sure in the early days it will be one sided, but once word gets out? Then I believe the rule book will get burnt an the,... Just Doing My Job types,... may be trying to protect things they value more than a pay check". Page 241 of the book.

Just remember the door to door confiscation after hurricane Katrina. That was a beta test to see how easy it would be to do it with the local police AND the National Guard "just following orders".

I generally have no ill feelings to the LE members that frequent this forum and other pro 2A forums, as I trust that their feelings about civilian gun ownership is true to the 2A. Unfortunately, I feel they are in the minority among their ranks on a nationwide scale. Its the remaining 80% of that blue line that will be "just following orders" to get a paycheck that I worry about.

It's also situational. It's easy to say in a time of peace and calm. Once things start getting chaotic, or you frame a situation as exceptionally dangerous, those same pro-2A officers won't be thinking about the 2A. They'll be thinking about helping, being proactive, etc. It's not that they're intending to do something wrong; it's just not the priority at the time.

Fair enough, my perception from the inside, puts the number at more like 30-40%

Don't for a second believe being in the minority isn't part of the 'war on police' / 'change police culture' agenda.

If you want to have LE do your bidding, as a liberal, then the first step has to be get rid of conservatives and hire more of your own kind.

They're doing the same thing with judiciary appointments, people who are supposed to do their jobs fairly and in an equitable manner are letting their politics drive their decisions.

The instinct in me is that only a moral(biblically-based) and self-aware people should have the right to bear arms, but as things degrade more rapidly in society and this rapid move to arm every police department to the teeth, it seems that those who are still tethered to both a moral foundation and the inheritors/continue'rs of a great past need this right now more than ever.

The game will never really get going. It will be picking off all the statists enemies one at a time.
Red flags for "hate speech" or conservative views or owning too many guns. Etc etc.
Oh and everything will be a prohibiting offense. Lots here like that.

I doubt that. At some point it will go hot.

I agree, but there will still be degrees of unrest. I don't see widespread disarmament or red flags as civil war powder keg issues in and of themselves because they are carried out piecemeal, though I fear the civil division does benefit America's enemies and underminers who might manipulate the matter into violence. If a change is necessary then our democracy will be the path of least resistance for us to preserve our 2A right, but I suppose that depends on how much faith you put in our current system given the many infringements on our constitution— specifically the BOR.

In any case cops aren't going to round up AR-15's like some kind of 2A Schindler's List night of broken Sightmarks. That's a fucking joke. The reps will tax you and penalize you. Have fun choosing a driver's license and social security over your previously compliant AR-15/aSsAuLt wEaPoN. That's at best, realistically you'd simply be guilty of a widespread felony where some leeway is given in regard to prosecution while the rationale for full force is kept on the table. If you don't choose peace, even as a consolation for your rights, even when violence is forced upon you, you're painted as vermin and incompatible with a peaceful dominion. All of this hinges on justification, of course. The fact that the justification has been relaxed through red flag raids and even widespread confiscation is being flaunted by some politicians should give anyone great pause, on either side of the judicial fence.
