Rifle Scopes Thickness of reticules FFP PST & SWFA SS 5-20x50

How thick is the reticule of the SWFA SS 5-20x50 Tactical 30mm Riflescope compared to the 6-24x50mm FFP MOA PST scope? Is the SWFA SS 5-20x50 Tactical 30mm Riflescope's thinner than the PST? It could make a difference to me sighting on the target at 1,000 yds.

Here you go, SWFA subtensions in mrads Vortex in MOA.
1 mrad = 3.44 MOA

So for the crosshairs they are very close:

Vortex = 0.18 MOA
SWFA = 0.05 mrad = 0.17 MOA

I doubt it. The 5-20x50mm is a Tactical scope. FFP Reticles for tactical work are thicker at the top end, so they can be useful and can be used for comps at the bottom end of the X scale.

If your considering using Tactical designed FFP scopes to work well for static 1000 yd bench rest competition, your likely to be forever disappointed.

The two disciplines are vastly different in terms of the optical design and festures necessary for successful target acquisition and maximum score. In benchrest an SFP high power scope with fine reticles are were it's at.

GT,

If you like the PST and want a thin reticle, get a 6-24 SFP MOA. The reticle is 1/3 the thickness of the 6-24 MOA FFP. All the other FFP reticles are 2x as thick as the SFP reticles except for your scope. Go figure.

FWIW I think the SWFA reticle will do very well, but only for certain applications. I don't think it's a benchrest scope though. I'm going to use mine for varmints.

I would like to have a thinner reticule for shooting at 1,000 yds., but I have been using my FFP MOA PST and doing "OK".

Don't laugh, but I think I'm going to put my 10-40x50mm Osprey scope on and try it for 1,000 yds. The glass is very clear & has a lot more power, but has 1/8" adjustments. Lots of counting He He. I'll get another set of rings and I can switch the scopes on the 20 MOA rail. Oh, the Osprey cost me $154 delivered from Sportsman Guide. I know everyone says it is junk, but it has worked for me in the past shooting out to 400 yds.

I'm game to try anything to get my groups down to less then 6 inches if I can. Can't afford another expensive scope right now.

The 6-24 mil reticle is .04 mils thick.
